SnapSeed is currently one of the best image editors for iOS mobile devices and is a complete steal at just $4.99. But, wait a minute, the price tag has just dropped off and the app is now available from the App Store as a freed download. This is because Google, who acquired Nik Software, makers of SnapSeed have finally released the app on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for free, although Mac users will have to wait for their store price to be changed – it is currently $19.99.
As well as the existing features such as straightening, rotating, cropping, tuning and filters, the updated version also includes a Retrolux filter and an updated frames filter. The app also supports 6 megapixel images on the iPad, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generation, 16 megapixel images on the iPhone 4, 4S and iPad 2 and 20.25 megapixel images on the iPhone and iPad 3rd Generation. Support is included for JPEG, TIFF and RAW images as well.
Voted Best Mobile App 2012 and iPad App Of The Year, you won’t go too far wrong in giving it a go. Although it may seem a little strange to the first time user, a little perseverance will eventually pay off and you will get used to flipping and swiping to carry out actions on the app.
