If you are an avid follower of the latest tech toys then you have probably already predicted the direction in which the new iPad Mini 2 is going to go. It has already been rumored that it will sport a Retina Display and, although this has not been confirmed, the supplier of the parts for it have hinted that Apple are definitely concentrating on a higher resolution for the next one. With the recent spate of Retina devices in the Apple collection, many were surprised that the iPad Mini did not have one anyway.
However, though it may sound simple to give the new one a Retina Display it is not quite as easy as that. It promises to be a juggling act if it goes ahead because, in order for the display to work properly it will need a bigger and faster processor and a heavier duty battery as well. However, this will add to the size of the slim sleek look of the iPad and will detract from its promise to be portable and manageable.
Whichever way Apple choose to go, in order to keep their new device fully compatible with already available apps, it will have to have a higher resolution, at least 2048 x 1536. It will be interesting to see if they do choose to go Retina and how they will maintain the looks and performance of the iPad Mini 2 without compromising anything else.
