There is a lot of buzz since the iphone 4 launch , and people started talking about jailbreaking their device. But what is jailbreaking , what are the benefits of jailbreaking , what is carrier unlock and dozens of other questions. In this post , I would like to clear the cloud of doubt .
What is Jailbreaking ?
Jailbreaking is the process that gives the user read/write access to otherwise locked OS files on their iDevice [iphone , ipod touch , ipad]. After jailbreaking a device , the user can get access to the root level of an iPhone or iPod Touch 4 which then allows them to run custom codes for installing new applications , like unlockers.
Benefits of Jailbreaking :
After you jailbreak iphone 4 , you can install any application installer like Cydia [very popular among jailbreakers]. Cydia comes with tons of apps like MyWi which lets your iPhone to convert into a WiFi host spot or My3g which can let you use face-time on 3G network instead of WiFi . A jailbroken iphone can be unlocked to access different carriers .

Is Jailbreaking Legal ?
Federal regulators announced last month [July 26th 2010] that it was lawful to hack or jailbreak an iPhone . However Apple is against it and has recently applied for a patent to remotely disable iphone’s .
You said carrier unlock . What is that ?
Many mobile phone manufacturers software code their cellular device to work only with a certain operator . Such phones are called carrier locked. The process of unlocking iphone 4 will then allow you to use SIM cards of any operator of your wish . Iphone’s in the United States come carrier locked to AT&T which has the exclusive rights for iphone’s at the moment .

You can jailbreak iOS 3.2.2 on iPad With Limera1n on Windows as well as jailbreak iPod Touch 4G on iOS 4.1. Here is another tutorial that allows you to jailbreak iPhone 4 iOS 4.1 on Windows. Just follow the below steps to jailbreak iPhone 4 iOS 4.1 with Limera1n.

Sorry Bro the Cydia in not in the application. with so many trial with greenpoison its say jaibreak complete but the problem is that my phone hanged on the itunes and usb icon which i think means i have to connect to iTunes or really am nowhere then.
Maybe ill just wait for the one released by pwnage for MAC. To be honest idont know what they mean by shsh or basesband or so many terms. Ill try to learn if somebody could explain things.

Since very long I have been waiting for carrier unlocking software for iphone4 4.1 with baseband 02.10.04 . Everyone who is related with this task says that it would be done very soon.Say in a day or two.There are many sites asking money for unlocking the same but I am sure they just fools you.PEOPLE SAYS THAT WAIT UNTIL RELEASE OF IOS 4.2 by apple. Nobody tells what to do.Before buying my Iphone from US through a friend of mine ,I never knew that it is so difficult task. Good info. I’m thinking about getting my iPhone 4 jailbroken just for the use of personal hotspot. But do you lose the iPhones warrantee when it gets jailbroken? And once it has been jailbroken, can you not then update any newer versions of software?
