More than a year after his demise , Steve Jobs custom-made yacht was launched with his widow, Laurene, and three of their children, Reed, Erin and Eve in attendance at the ceremony. The yacht was christened Venus after the Roman goddess of love, fertility, prosperity, beauty and victory.
The design of the yacht was created by Jobs and the designer, famed for his minimalistic approach, Philippe Starck. It is between 230 and 260 feet long and has an impressively sleek form including teak decks and panes of floor-to-ceiling glass throughout the entire yacht and seven 27-inch iMacs on board (six of which can be seen in the photo below).
Launched at shipbuilder Koninklijke De Vries in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands and was an event that the late Apple CEO knew he might never live to see, but refused to give up on the project or stop tinkering with the blueprints as he said, “I know that it’s possible I will die and leave Laurene with a half-built boat. But I have to keep going on it. If I don’t, it’s an admission that I’m about to die.”.

To show their appreciation of the hard work put in by the shipbuilder’s staff the Jobs family gave every member a personalized iPod shuffle engraved with the name of the ship along with a small note of thanks.
