The last couple of months have seen the jailbreak community a bit down in the dumps. It seemed as though there was never going to be an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone and iOS 6 and the popular cracked app installer, Installous disappeared as owners Hackul0us shut down with no warning. Many believed that jailbreaking was dead.
However, the last couple of days should have raised spirits and rekindled enthusiasm as planetbeing reported that he does in fact have a fully working untethered jailbreak on his iPhone 5. It just hasn’t been released to the public yet, for a variety of reasons. Now pod2g is back on the scene, at least for a while, and has been seen tweeting :
“ If the only possible way to #weWantAnOpenIOS is the jailbreak, it’ll happen. It is not the end!”
He also says that any jailbreaking going on is being done underground and is not ready for release just yet. The general consensus seems to be to be patient and don’t give up because it will happen. Look at iOS 5 jailbreak last year – that took months to get up and running but that proved to be highly successful.
