Recently Apple issued a new update, iOS 6.0.2, only for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini users. The update was to fix a bug affecting wireless connections that only affects these 2 devices. Upon hearing of the release, Musclenerd, dev team member has this to say to those of you waiting for a jailbreak :
“Remember! JBers should always avoid updates (like 6.0.2 being offered to some devices today) to improve chances of using any future JB”.
There is hope that a genuine untethered iOS 6 jailbreak will be with us in the near future but, in the meantime, those of you who are waiting for it should not, under any circumstances, download this update. Each and every new update to iOS 6 significantly reduces any chance of the device being compatible with the new jailbreak when it arrives.
The reason for this is because the dev team are concentrating their efforts on an iOS 6.0 and iOS 6.0.1 exploit rather than looking at the newer updates. It may also be that Apple has built an impenetrable security wall around 6.0.2, in which case, it could be months or even years before a jailbreak is found.
The advice is to stay put on iOS 6.0.1 and be patient. Do not update your device and do not trust any untethered jailbreak that doesn’t come from the dev teams.
