how about for 3gs old bootrom? is it will be untethered like for 5.0 ??

  2. xy says:

I got error 3194 when restoring my iphone to iOS 5.0 with preserved bb. Any help? Thanks!

    • ABC says:

What worked for me, was to plug the cable directly into an USB port on the computer. Meaning NOT going tru an USB hub.

    • xy says:

No luck for me but I’ve tried to edit my hosts file but this freakin windows 7 don’t allow me to update my hosts file as an admin!!!

      • Lex says:

to edit host file on windows 7 just copy the original host file, then go to start menu type notepad and right click run as admin and paste original. make changes and save as hosts to replace old host file!! thats it

      • xy says:

Have tried that too (several times) but everytime I’m trying to replace the original file it always prompt me that “..cannot perform because it is being used by other system..”.

      • Lex says:

Huh…are you sure your doing it right.
I just made new one in notepad while running as admin and saved as hosts…then it asks if I want to replace the original file click yes

      • xy says:

I have updated the hosts file but still getting error 3194 upon restoring. Did I miss any step?

    • Chomerly says:

      Update your iTunes software.

I had the same issue and after updating iTunes it worked.

      • Jimmy says:

        I also get the error 3194, i got baseband 01.59.00 ver 4.1
Im using win 7 64 bit. I’ve tried ur suggestions with no luck. Someone who got a solution ?

      • Chomerly says:

        Use the info below.

Have you downloaded the new IPSW file for your handset?
There are 2 versions of the iPhone4 (gsm & cdma) and 1 version of iPhone4s.

Have you used Snowbreeze to custom the firmware?

        Have you updated iTunes?

Have you put your phone into DFU mode and the used iTunes to upload the custom IPSW by holding the shift key, clicking the restore button and selecting the custom IPSW file?

Have you then put your handset back in DFU mode and used Redsnow to jailbreak your handset with the original uncustomised iOS5.0 (not iOS5.0.1) IPSW file?

Once jailbroken, have you then put your phone back into DFU mode and used Redsnow again (using iOS5.0 not iOS5.0.1) to boot tethered?

You must have a copy of the original IPSW file and a copy of the custom IPSW file.
You only use the custom file for iTunes to update your phone with. Everything else (jailbreaking and booting tethered) must be done with the original IPSW restore file.

There is more info at the bottom of this page.

  3. Chomerly says:

I’m trying to Jailbreak a 3GS with baseband 5.16.01 and iOS 4.3.5 but it refuses to do it.

I’ve added and removed the host address for apple in the hosts file in order to get this to work but i keep getting the 3194 error when trying to restore the Snowbreeze custom ipsw file.

I’m running Itunes version 10.4.0.80 and have been ever since i jailbreaked my Iphone 4 which is still on 4.2.1 (8c148)

    Need some help please guy’s.

    • Lex says:

      Have u used tiny umbrella?

      • Chomerly says:

For whatever the reason, the icons had disappeared from the home screen and all i could do was move it left to the search screen.

Tiny Umbrella wouldn’t even get the phone to enter recovery mode even though it could be seen in the program with all the relevant info about the phone itself.
I’ve hit it with every bit of jail breaking software i have on my machine and that is a lot.

I’ve just had to update my Itunes program and download and install the new iOS update for the phone.
It’s the only option left at the minute.

  4. Len says:

After i jail break and get cydia then install something from cydia like installous or winterboard it wont respring and just stays at the apple logo

  5. Reza says:

    Hey friends!

I followed the above mentioned process to jailbreak my iphone 4, — the best part, its untethered jailbreak. I never had to use iboot or connect my jailbroken iphone 4 to the computer to boot..

    Yiepeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  6. Vince says:

I successfully upgrade my iPhone4 to ios5.01 preserve baseband 04.10.01. But how do I jailbreak it after this? Can i use Redsnow? Please advice, Thank you!

  7. FirstTimer says:

Hi, im new both to iPhone and jailbreaking and i’m not sure about jailbreaking my iPhone ..
Mostly because of the garanty disappearing.
I Got an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 , and my questions are:
    1. Are there a jailbreak version for my iOS yet?
    2. What are the chances that jailbreaking my phone goes wrong?
    3. Is it clever or just plain stupid to jailbreak my phone?

    • Tinker says:

If your Jailbreak fails … you just hard boot your system by holding down the top button and the home button as you did to get it to boot (DFU Mode) then hit the Power button on top and all will be well! MOST attempts I did at jail breaking mine failed and I have not lost any data yet (knock on wood)

      Tinker

  8. pskingsq says:

    the Cydia not working
i mean i press on the Cydia Sign the screen goes black for a sec and than crash i gusse the iphone need restart

but how do i restart the iphone with this program?

with redsnow you can do JUST BOOT but i dont see anything like this in this program what can i do?

    thanx .

  9. Will says:

I have downloaded the .ipsw for my iPod touch 3,running os 5.0.1, 4 times now. When I launch sn0wbreeze, and go to select the .ipsw file, it isnt there, all the folders that were just download have no files in them. Each download takes 1 hour 45 mins to do. I am quite frustrated at this point.

I have been able to locate a file that is recognized by sn0wbreeze but it says “not a valid IPSW” the file name is, “iPod3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore”

    What am I doing incorrectly?

  10. Abu Yousef says:

I did the custom IOS 5.0.1 using snowbreeze and it worked. The problem is that, email and safari aren’t working..

  11. sam says:

I can’t see cydia after restart. please help!

  12. Chomerly says:

You need to put your phone back into DFU mode and then use Redsnow to perform a tethered boot .
I had the Cydia icon on my home screen but it was blanked out even though i had jailbroken my phone.
I had to reboot my phone tethered and once done, it showed up.

    • William says:

Is the rebbot of the phone using redsnow long? Cuz my cydia is just crashing when try to open it…

  13. sam says:

I don’t have cydia at all and can’t do tethered boot as redsn0w 9.9b8 says that ipsw is not supported. (ipsw 5.0) (((

  14. sam says:

    it says unrecognized build.
    fingerprint……… and stuff like that

  15. Chomerly says:

If you have iOS 5.01 on your phone you will have to load Redsnow.
Click extras and then click manually select IPSW. (5.0 not 5.01)
Once you’ve done that then just select boot tethered.

If you still don’t have Cydia then follow the process above (using iOS5.0 ipsw) and instead of booting tethered, select jailbreak and install Cydia. Once completed you will have to (again) follow the above boot tethered process and it should.

  16. sam says:

    unrecognized build…

  17. Chomerly says:

    What ipsw are you using?

  18. sam says:

    iPhone3,3_5.0_9A334_Restore
    this is verizon cell

  19. Chomerly says:

Which version of iPhone 4 and what iOS are you running?

  20. sam says:

    I’m running iOS 5.0.1 (9A405)
    Carrier Verizon 11.2
    Modem Firmware 3.0.03
Jailbreak goes thru and phone turns on on the regular bases – no cydia, if I go “just boot” says unrecognized build.

  21. Chomerly says:

    I don’t get it.

All i did was to jailbreak my phone (and i’m using the same build as you) using Redsnow.

After writing the custom IPSW using Snowbreeze, i put my phone into DFU mode and started iTunes.
When iTunes detected that my phone was in recovery mode, i held shift and selected the custom IPSW file and it installed to my phone and then it restarted as normal.
From there i just followed the instructions . Once that is done, click back and then click jailbreak and then follow the instructions to put your phone into DFU mode.
If done correctly your phone will show the HDD icon on the screen and then eventually it will reset itself.

After that has completed you need to do it all again (using the same iOS software) but this time just boot tethered and Cydia should show up on one of your homescreen pages.

This should work as i did it myself today.

  22. roby says:

i found a bug in 5.0, add more keyboard, then when typing message, change keyboard, and crash…..

I remove the english(default) keyboard, then my phone keep looping in blackscreen, need to restore :(

  23. Togu says:

I followed the instructions, worked. But “No signal”. What should i do now?
Can i jailbreak again and again?

  24. Gonza says:

Hola, soy Gonzalo y tengo un Iphone 4, con ios 5.0.1 hice todo bien, pero cuando quiero restaurar el Iphone, me sale error, que tengo que hacer? AYUDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA =(

  25. radderick says:

I did everything as per instruction. Installed iOS 5.0.1. Cydia is there. My iPhone is jailbroken. Baseband preserved 01.59.00. But can not get net signal after ultrasnow installation. Re-installed it for several times but still the same issue. No signal on a screen. What could it be?

    • radderick says:

when I out it at “in a plane” mode and than activate again, it shows “sim card error”

      • radderick says:

Seems like ultrasn0w has not been yet upgraded for iOS 5.0.1… Now will have to wait for next update as downgrade is painful (back to iOS 4.3.3) and risky. Next time it would be better to post if Jailbreak and unlock are done together

      • Chomerly says:

        Not so.

I’m running iOS5.01 jailbroken without issue and I used Snowbreeze to create the custom firmware and jailbreaked it with with Redsnow using an original iOS5.0.ipsw file.
        It was jailbroken in minutes.

Just remember that you need to jailbreak with Redsnow and then boot tethered using Redsnow after jailbreaking.

  26. radderick says:

    Chomerly:

Jailbreak is ok. I need to unlock my iPhone 4 as it is originally locked to AT&T. And ultrasn0w does not work at iOS 5.0.1

  27. Chomerly says:

    Radderick:

Just to clarify, what baseband are you running?

According to the Ultrasn0w website, version 1.2.4 ( I think it’s that version) states it can do iOS5.
I’m assuming that it can do iOS5.01 as there is no mention of compatibility issues to do with OS. It seems more centered on handset basebands.

  28. Damian says:

I need your knowledge!!! I have an iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.3. Can I upgrade to iOS 5.0? When I tried to shift + restore my snowbreeze cooked ipsw in itunes i get error 3194, (I need to preserve my bb with snowbreeze). I changed my host file but still no luck, I was waiting for the ios5 untethered jb, until I started to read this post. Thanks in advance!!!

    • Chomerly says:

Yes, it’s best to upgrade to 5 if you want to upgrade and not 5.01 as it will be some time before that version will be jailbroken untethered.

I had the same error 3194 issue as you and i managed to solve it by updating iTunes to the latest version.

      • Damian says:

Mmmm I was trying with iTunes 10.5, I’ll start downloading rigth away. What about the signing window from apple??? Do I need to change my host file?? Do I need tinyumbrella for anything??

      • Chomerly says:

The host file entries that you have don’t really do much as far as I know because I deleted all traces of Apple and iTunes from my host file as i was having the 3194 error message as we’re and simply upgrading iTunes was the last thing I did that worked.

I’m unsure of what you mean about signing in window in apple. If you mean do you need to sign in then I would say yes as your phone, once the initial upgrade is done, will need to be unlocked for use as though you had just bought it new.

Tiny umbrella isn’t really needed unless your phone is stuck in a continuous restart because of a botched jailbreak.

      • Damian says:

I’ll try with the latest iTunes and no host entries. I’ll comment later. Thanx!!

  29. Abu Yousef says:

A little advice for Gevey SIM users, stick to iOS 4 for the time being until an untethered version of iOS 5 is released.

  30. ameen says:

    hi ieieie

  31. radderick says:

Any news when will ultrasn0w be upgraded for iOS 5.0.1 to unlock?

  32. Miriam says:

The Iphone wont go back on again after ive done everything, only way is restoring it again in itunes.. how do i do it?

  33. Miriam says:

Ok now i worked it out, and everything seems fine exept i dont get a signal D:

  34. bob says:

I did everything right up until after it downloaded snowbreze. The little snowflake popped up and everything. Then I tried to use iBooty to reboot and it wouldnt work. Now my phone wont even turn on or anything. I know that I can restore from the original ipsw, but Id rather have a jailbreaked phone. Any advice?

    • radderick says:

I also had this issue. You need to do everything one more time from the very beginning. Delete created firmware. And start Sn0wbreeze again. Create new firmware and install as per discription. You may need to do it another time if does not help. Happens. Your phone is fine.
But re unlock – if you need an unlock seems like we all need to wait as ultrasn0w does not work at iOS 5.0.1.
If you need just a jailbreak – all above should work for you just fine.
      Hope this helps

  35. Jodi says:

so this will work now for my IPhone 4 with IOS 5.0.1 running FW 04.08.11 PLEASE HELP ME ;-)

  36. alex says:

i jailbroke my iphone 4 ios 5.0.1 and let it book after restore and cydia wont open… it starts to but then instantly closes

    PLZ HELP

    • Jodi says:

How did u jailbreak it I’m still trying day 5 please help me I’ll even give u my # to help me walk me through it PLEASE!!!

  37. deeb says:

I updated to ios 5.0.1 . tried to use redsn0w but got “unrecognized build error” . started over trying sn0wbreeze and got “error 3194″ . i read that i needed to edit host files, but when i went into the host files, there was no apple host files i could find . i am running out of options and don’t know what to do . this is day 2 for me

    • Jodi says:

YEP days 4 was today I keep getting same error codes I’m stuck 2 please help us!!!!

      • radderick says:

Guys, just do as per instruction. Nothing more. Don’t forget to update iTunes. Should not be a problem. Do you have an original sim-card (AT&T or what you’ve got with the iPhone) – just in case

      • Jodi says:

RAD it says IPSW is not valid once downloaded on Windows

      • radderick says:

Start all from the very beginning. Check iTunes – latest version ? No need to change hosting manually in file. Delete all firmware you created with snow breeze. Download one from this site. Start snowbreeze. Expert mode. Do not do anything at settings (like hactivation or anything else). Wait when it’s done. Start installation. Re-boot using iBooty created at desktop of your pc. Do you have unlocked iPhone? If NOT (like for me), you will get an iPod because ultrasnow does not work at ios 5.0.1. I’ve got an iPod working at ios 5.0.1 as no one wrote in the article that unlock has not been yet developed ;) Now waiting for ultrasnow update

  38. Chandra says:

I am trying to Jailbreak a AT&T Locked phone – to activate to work with any SIM, using snowbreeze. When I build my IPSW, it is taking hours with the spinning wheel going round and round. How long does it take to build the IPSW. Is there anything I should check or any trick to get it completed

    • radderick says:

No, you don’t. Expert mode and wait. Worked for me just fine

      • radderick says:

But be ready that ultrasnow does not unlock iOS 5.0.1 yet. I’ve got the same problem – jail broken iPhone with preserved baseband but no unlock so far

  39. Chomerly says:

    Right.

Latest version of snowbreeze will write a custom version of 5.01 while preserving baseband.
This works for 5.0 & 5.01 because my iPhone that I’m using to type this now is jailbroken and has Cydia and Installous working fully.
What will not work on 5.01 is ultrasnow unlock.

    What you need:

    iTunes (latest version)
Original version 5.0 and 5.01 IPSW files
    Snowbreeze (latest version)
    Redsnow (latest version)

To jailbreak iPhone use these instructions.

    1) Update iTunes to whatever version is the latest.
    2) Write custom 5.0 (or 5.01 if you really want to upgrade to 5.01) using Latest Sn0wbreeze and preserve baseband.
    3) Put iPhone into DFU mode.
    4) Use iTunes to install custom iOS
    5) Once custom iOS is installed and phone is reset, put back into DFU mode.
    6) Open latest version Redsnow, click extras, click Select IPSW and select original, untouched version 5.0 IPSW restore file.
    7) Click back and the click jailbreak. Install Cydia as you go.
    8) When the jailbreak has completed you need to put the iPhone back into DFU mode.
    9) Use Redsnow again. Click extras and then click Just boot tethered.

Remember, you have to use the original version 5.0 IPSW In order to jail break version 5.01

Now, I’m not sure whether this process works for an uncustomized 5.01 installation but to try, you need to just follow the Redsnow steps and not snowbreeze.

Also, Ultrasnow as of this point does not unlock version 5.01 of iOS.

    • Jodi says:

Chomerly how do I get back to iOS 5.0? Also how so I find it in ITunes it only shows update 5.0.1 installed not 5.0?? Help please yourgirl_75@yahoo.com

      • radderick says:

Not sure you can do that. You can try if you saved your shsh blobs. I did not and I can not downgrade

      • Chomerly says:

Like Radderick, i don’t know if you can downgrade from 5.01 to 5.0 but i think you can reinstall 5.01 (custom or not) over a previous 5.01 install.
What I mean is, if your phone came with version 5.01 then I think you can install 5.01 again without issues.
If there is a downgrade for 5.01 to 5.0 then it will be on the site somewhere.
I think It’s more important that your baseband is preserved more than iOS I believe.

        Anyway,
        Follow the instructions below.
They assume you have already written a custom iOS file using snowbreeze.

        1) Unplug your usb cable from your phone.
        2) Put your phone into DFU mode. ( follow instructions on this site or go to YouTube)
        3) Once in DFU mode, start iTunes (making sure you have the latest version) and then plug your USB cable back in.
        4) iTunes will give you a message saying that it has detected a device in recovery mode.
        5) Hold down shift and click update. A windows folder will open up and you select your custom iOS file.
        6) iTunes will install the custom iOS file to your device.
        7) Once the iOS is installed and you have followed the instructions for your device, follow the instructions from step 5 in my previous post and it should be jailbroken.

These instructions, in combination from step 5 in my previous post, is all I did to jailbreak mine.

I didn’t use iBooty as when I tried it before nothing happened so I used Redsnow instead.

  40. deeb says:

@radderick ive followed all instructions i can find to the tee . ive tried 2 different jailbreaks and i keep getting errors . i even got a new error the last time i tried with sn0wbreeze (1st -54, then 3194, error 1604) . i tried editing the host, disabling firewall, i have the newest itunes, i restarted my computer many times . ive been working on this going on 3 days, i am completely stumped . do i have to start all over again fresh with my phone? and previously “unrecognizable build error” in redsn0w . any help would greatly appreciated

    • Jodi says:

Yeah atleast u can get past that my snowbreeze just keep twirling saying trying to recognize ISWP….I need serious help I have done all u have & nothing on day 5!!

    • thirdlegsblind69 says:

i had the same problem and to fix i had to reinstall 5.0.1 reintall itunes and then go thru the motions again and then it worked—-same boat as you 3 days trying—must have been a glitch or something because it worked the first time after i reinstalled—-steve

  41. Deeb says:

I never updated to 5.0 if I did I wouldn’t have updated to 5.0.1 is this why I am having so many issues? I can’t get passed iTunes restoring the custom ipsw. I keep receiving errors. In both sn0wbreeze and redsn0w

  42. thirdlegsblind69 says:

    yes— that’s what i did

  43. Chandra says:

I have being able to Jailbreak on my day 2, with snow breeze. I used the latest available of IOS 5.0.1 and iTunes and snowbreeze.

This is what I did downloaded the software.

    2. Restarted my PC
    3,  started snowbreeze
    4. Picked up the latest 5.0.1 Ipsw,  I had shared that link yesterday
    5. This time got over spinning wheel problem
    6. In parallel uninstalled iTunes
    7. As directed by snowbreeze after the snowbreeze build send machine into dfu mode
    8. Shut down machine. And restarted it
    9. Installed iTunes.
    10.  Did recovery with the snowbreeze file

    The jailbreak happened.

Booted with iBooty to make Cydia work

  44. Dan says:

The procedure stopped at step 12. It does not complete the boot up with iBooty.

    • Chomerly says:

Ibooty didn’t work for me either.

All i did was to use the latest version of Redsnow to jailbreak and also to boot tethered.

      To boot tethered:

      Start Redsnow,
      Click Select IPSW,
select the original version 5.0 file (iPhone3,1_5.0_9A344_Restore.ipsw)
Click Just boot and follow the instructions.

  45. Jason says:

Help me1 After jailbreaking by Snowbreeze, my G4 Ipod touch showed Cydia icon ,but it did not let me go inside. Every time I tapped on it, it refused its service. Would someone give me a direction to fix that problem? Thank a lot.

    • Chomerly says:

Did you boot tethered after jailbreaking?

You have to reboot tethered even after doing the jailbreak.
It diesn’t work the same as previous jailbreaking methods where the handset would work after limerain or Redsnow rebooted it.

    • radderick says:

Use iBooty to reboot. It is tethered jailbreak

  46. William says:

I jailbreak my iphone 4 with this software on 5.0.1 and i boot it with ibooty v2.3 but when i clicked on cydia, it automatically crash and my safari also. Why? Did i did something wrong? Pls reply

  47. radderick says:

    all,
just found that unlock for iphone 4 ios 5.0.1 is possible with Fix Ultrasn0w For iOS 5.0.1
    It supports basebands: 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, 06.15.00, 01.59.00.
I have not checked that yet. But will let you know when done.
Sounds like a way-out for me as Ultrasnow was not updated by devteam – was done by other people

    Short sum:
    1)install ios 5.0.1 with snowbreeze
    2) at Cydia add source http:// cydia.iloveidevice.tk
    3) search Fix Ultrasn0w For iOS 5.0.1 and install
    4) reboot your iphone

this info is of 30th of November

    All the best

This instruction does not work. Put new comment but don’t see it’s validated. See comments on repo to get correct unlock. Will post details again later this week
