Steps to Install Pwnage Tool Jailbreak – iOS 4.2.1 Un-Tethered Jailbreak :
- Download Pwnage Tool Bundle for iPhone 4 3GS here and unzip it.
- Download Pwnage Tool 4.1.3 for Mac OS .
- Download iOS 4.2.1 .ipsw file
- Download and install iTunes 10.1.2 on your Mac and sync before proceeding.
- Now right-click on the Pwnage Tool icon and select “Show Package Contents”
- Navigate to PwnageTool.app/Content/Resources/FirmwareBundles/ and copy the .bundle files extracted from the downloads on Step 1.
- In the next step goto PwnageTool.app/Content/Resources/CustomPackages/CydiaInstaller.bundle/ and paste info.plist file
- Start Pwnage Tool and select Expert mode as shown in the image below
- Now browse to the .ipsw files downloaded in Step 3
- In the next screen select the option “General” as shown in the image below
- In the next screen under General Settings unselect “Activate the phone”
- Now under custom packages settings screen select “Cydia Installer”
- Click next and select Build
- Pwnage Tool will now create the custom ipsw file which can be used to restore your device and jailbreak it .
- Follow steps 10 – 15 in this previous Pwnage Tool tutorial and restore your device accordingly .
- Sync your phone to get back all the apps and settings .

I too, have a iphone4.2.1 with Base 3.10.1 ……I hope the untethered is addressed soon. It was Jauuary 15 as an approx. date for jailbreaking. PLEASE with all your effort release this jailbreak and unlocking ability. Cordially, Christian
Funny, Baseband 1.59? That is an old Baseband used for the first Batch of 800000 iPhone 4, really made for iPhone 3.The Unlock was leaked by Apple together with the old Basebands for 3G and 3GS with the introduction of iPhone 4. All 16 Million Phones sold since then (in the last 6 Month), got BB 2.10 or later. Who cares about an old Baseband to preserve? Nobody got that and the few who have, could use tiny Umbrella for Month.
What about the real challenge? What about a real unlock for the most popular phone out there? No? Right, they can not do it, sending excuses like “waiting for the next release” while the baseband got NOTING to to with a OS Version, the same they said when 4.2 came out month ago. when 4.3 comes next week, we will have to wait till 4.4, it would be a “waste” otherwise.

You can just wait till they release unlock then only get your phone. Stop whining. If you cant wait, just get another phone.
Na, I sold my iPhone months ago when it was clear that there would never be any unlock. Bought a Android for half the money that performs better but most important, works.
I just think that it is funny to see so many people that still believe in a bunch of storytellers. After all, they never produced any unlock, why would they now? Anybody can say that they can do it and never deliver.And everybody is discussing the imminent unlock. Yeah, imminent, since September last year.

I have a 3Gs, old bootrom, at iOS 4.1 that I just upgraded to iOS 4.2.1 using the pwnage proceedure outlined above. The first time I did it it dumped me into restore mode when I was done. I have only a T-mobile SIM so I thought that was the problem. But after trying an ATT sim I realized it was something else. Then I read throguh it again and realized I never put the .plist file into the bundle in the pwnage contents. So, I went back and did that and retried it. That didn’t work either. So then I did something really bone head and tried to run GreenPoison. It failed,probably because I hadnt done a clean 4.2.1 install (don’t want to upgrade my bootrom). Then I tried the whole thing again with pwnage but with Activate checked. That didn’t work either. Now I have gone back and tried all over again but no matter what I do it freezes on the Apple logo when I start up. I know it is a bunch of crazy stuff I did in desperation but can anyone suggest how to get this unlocked at 4.2.1 and still unlock it. I have no idea what state my phone is in. Also, in case it helps I have all my SHSH blobs saved in cydia.

dude, just do a restore with itunes andthen wait for the unlock like me. there is not other go. even im f waiting.
But I was at baseband 5.13.04 so I should still be able to downgrade to 4.1 again (which is where i was at before I started this). Or do you think I have upgraded my baseband without knowing it? I don’t know how to find that out without having a phone that boots to some finished state. I think I will try a downgrade if I can find my old .ipsw file for 4.1.
restore and update your 3gs iphone with itunes to the last vers 4.2.1 and then update the firmware to 06.15.00 and you are unlock your iphone. if you want help this it’s my yahoo id: flightfree_2007

yes. works. i have done with 3gs and 4.2.1 vers and i update the firmware to 06.15.00 and i have the last apple ipsw on my apple 3gs
Can we downgrade the bb to a lower version and unlock it. I have iphone 4 + bb 3.10.1 + jb done + locked phone with uk orange. is there any software where i can downgrade the bb and unlock (windows). Pls reply any hacking experts.
I would also like to know how to downgrade baseband 03.10.01 so that i can unlock iPhone 4

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT
I followed the instructions and tried to install the custom firmware on a 3GS 32 MB model but it says that it’s a new bootrom model. The phone had 4.1. Of course I received the error 1600, so I entered the DFU Mode using Redsn0w. It installed correctly and iTunes announced that restore was successful. When it restarted to finalize installation, the screen kept blinking every 4 or 5 seconds. The screen goes off and on again repeatedly. I tried it because I have SHSH for 4.1 and can revert back to it. Now I returned to 4.1 but it wouldn’t accept limera1n or greenpois0n for jailbreak. I had to do it on Mac using Redsn0w. What’s your advice?
We need either a good custom firmware, or a baseband downgrade for those updated to 6.15.

say yes on this point and the select only add cydia and the jailbreak your phone. after that. do same and select only upgrade my ipad baseband and you are unlock you 3gs iphone
Dear I know all that. The GPS doesn’t work with that baseband version (iPad version). GPS is a crusial part of the iphone. As for me, the iphone is worth nothing without the GPS service. We really need a baseband download to an earlier version that is unlockable. Thanks for understanding.

I upgraded my iPhone 4 FW 4.1 to 4.2.1 Successfully with Pwangetool & unlock with ultrasnow… But my iPhone 4 has missing some options like “FACETIME, Cellular DATA Network, APN Settings, Find MY iPhone option missing in location Services etc.”
I’m not able to use Internet over 3G or EDGE. I dont know what to do … ??? Should I downgrade my phone to 4.1…??? help me plzzz

I have a Iphone 4.2.1. BB 03.10.01. I downloaded Pwnage 4.2, , used the iPhone3,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw to create the custom ipsw, put the iphone in DFU and tried to restore to the custom ispw. Failed, got the message “The IPhone could not be restored. This device is.nt eligible for the requested build”.
Please help.
