A recent tweet from Muscle Nerd of iPhone Dev Team says that its safe for jailbreakers to download the latest release of iTunes version 10. However he warns iPhone users to stay away from upgrading to iOS 4.1 firmware that is set to be released next week as announced in the Apple Musical Event.
iTunes 10 was released on 1st Sept during the iPod Touch 4th generation launch in Yerba Buena with a new look and logo. Some additional features like renting TV shows and Syncing were added along with it new social media sharing service named Ping which was later announced at the event by Steve Jobs.
Update :
Some users have reported problems with their iPhone after upgrading to iTunes 10 . They were unable to sync their music and video. Our reader Michael Panitch suggested that this was an issue only with Jailbroken iPhone and jailbreakers must use iTunes 9.2 and not upgrade to iTunes 10.
However iTunes 10 wont affect the jailbreak , but it will cause the problem while syncing.

The itunes 10 is sage but everything is not OK, managing the application crash my itunes.
if i jailbreka my iphone will i be able to still put music on it from my itunes
Of course, you can basically do anything you would Normally do, except updating, you can not update or it will erase your jailbreak, but yeah u Can do anything as you would normally do.. Have fun

i have some quiestions
1- is jailbreakeme stopped now ?
2- if i buy iphone4 will it be 4.0.1 ?
3- should i use at&t sim card when i jailbreak my phone?
4- if i buy ipod touch4 will it worked (wireless) in any country? :s

Its always good to ask question , but going through the comments is not a bad idea either .
1. Jailbreak is live but not for iOS 4.0.2
2. New iphone’s are iOS 4.0.2
3. Unlock after JB to use any sim. But since u cnt JB , u cnt unlock now.
4. Ipod works on WiFi for internet access to make facetime calls . Everything else works without WiFi i.e. music , apps etc.

Refurbed phones might have older firmware. It’s a gamble. Just received an iPhone 4 with 4.0.1!!! However, shsh blog can’t be saved (bummer). Hope a 4.2 jailbreak is made available untethered.
Can i still access to Iphone 4 Apps store as well as itune after jailbreaking?
Yup, of course… That was my same question when I first did my jailbreak.. So yeah you can use your apple store, of course…

Hii all. I just bought iphone4 factory unlock, when I tried to connect it my iTunes to unlock i got a MSG that the iphone can’t be unlocked with this version of iTunes, so I downloaded iTunes 10, by which I unlocked my iPhone perfectly. However, I couldn’t do the jail break from jailbreak me.com. Is it because if the new version of the iTunes? Or is it because of the ios!! Plz help me what should I do!

What firmware version does your iPhone have? If you just got it, it is preloaded with 4.0.2, which unfortunately there is no Jailbrake for. However, they are talking about perhaps releasing a Jailbrake for 4.1.

Ok, figured out what was up with iTunes 10. With my Jailbroken/Unlocked iPhone4, it did not sync any Music/Video media. However, with my friend’s AT&T iPhone4, there are no issues with syncing Music/Video media. So if you have a Jailbroken/Unlocked iPhone4, use iTunes 9.2. DO NOT UPGRADE to iTunes 10 or you will have the same issue.

I’m having this problem. Just upgraded to iTunes 10 and have a jailbroken iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0.1
Anyone know how to fix?

i’m having a similar problem. i have an iphone 4.0.1 jailbreak. i upgraded to itunes 10.0.1 and it is not recognizing my phone. the computer won’t even charge it. has anyone figured out how to fix this yet? i don’t want to restore because that will update my firmware and kill my jailbreak – and the jailbreak apps are more important than updating my music – although it would be nice to do that.
any help?

Sooo… were can I get itunes 9.2 and were how can I get and do the downgrade to 4.0.1?
You can find the iTunes 9.2 download through Google, but to download to 4.0.1, you have to have your shsh saved with Cydia & be using TinyUmbrella. It’s not your phone, it’s iTunes. However, now I am using iTunes 10 without an issue for the past month.
So if the 3Gs are running on 4.0.1
is using itunes 9.2 okay?

I have jailbroken my 3gs with Limera1n, can i sync it to my itunes 10? i dont want to do it until I am sure,
Can i synce my music and such from Itunes 10 onto my jailbroke iphone 3gs with version 4.1 and expect no problems?

Hi, im sorta new to all this technical stuff so i really hope someone can help me.
I have an iphone 4 version 4.1 and i have itunes 10. I dont often use itunes as my phone is jailbroken and i just download stuff from cydia and installous for apps because i dont really listen to music on my phone at all. im having a problem though, there are however some apps which i can still get off itunes for free which i hav done recently with a game that i wanted, the upgrade for this game can only be done through itunes on a pc which is what i tried, to my dismay, i found that most of the apps which i hav on my phone are from installous therefore they are not being transfered onto my pc (perhaps its because the apps arent licenced from the correct country that im registered with itunes?), so now im afraid that if i sync my phones apps on the pc ill loose all the stuff because the window that pops up when i plug my phone in when syncing says theres a problem or something with transfering most of my apps and they dont save onto the pc. plus when i go into my apps profile and click on sync, it says all existing apps and their data on the iphone “Stef” will be replaced with apps from this itunes library. does that mean all my apps which didnt save on itunes will be deleted if i chose to sync apps? pleeeeeez help. hope that was understandable enough lol sorry its so long

I have an iphone 4 and when I opened Cydia it asked me to update essentials or a full update and I clicked on the full update but ever since my Iphone is not turning on and I updated it from IOS 4.0.1 to 4.2.1 using itunes and I used Greenpois0n to jailbreak, everything seems to be working fine but when I tried opening it the Iphone wasn’t jailbroken, it’s telling me to connect to itunes like a new phone i tried it again but the same thing happened do you think that i shouldn’t have updated from Itunes?
I am also new with the techinicalities, i have bought the 4 yesterday jail broke it and i tried to sync it with my itunes music and it doesnt let me, is there anyone that can help me or point me to the direction i need to go, i so want music in my iphone, its the missing link.
I had my iphone 3 jail broken.. It was fun.. but few months later, it stopped working and I brought it back to the shop but it would not power on anymore as if totally broken just for 1 year of using it without purchasing anything or using my itunes store..will it affect my iphone4?
