Dev Team member @Pod2g has updated the jailbreak community with latest iPhone 4S Jailbreak developement after he successfully created iPhone 4 untethered Jailbreak (yet to be released) on iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 firmware .
According to his blog update , Pod2g has resolved the cache issues related to multicore cache management in A5 dual core processor used in iPhone 4S and iPad 2 . This indicates the steady progress in iPhone 4S untethered jailbreak and is expected to be released in the coming days . Cydia maker Saurik is also working with him to create a stable jailbreak tool . Read an excerpt from his blog post below .
OK, figured it out, the A5 cache is not a problem anymore.
I sorted it out by doing the untether in a single thread and by flushing all the dcache then all the icache in a row at a strategical point of the process.
It took me like a hundred of tests to find the key. Hard for the nerves.
Another news : I discussed with @saurik today about the launched boot process, and he’s found one missing piece of the puzzle I needed to have a perfectly stable jailbreak. He’s definitely one of the best iOS gurus out there. Thank you saurik!’
Pod2g’s jailbreak tool is likely to be based on an userland exploit which means this is not a permanent jailbreak solution for iPhone 4S . The jailbreak hole can be fixed anytime by Apple by releasing an iOS update .
