iPhone Jailbreaker @pod2g has discovered an exploit on iOS 5 firmware that can be used to bring untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4 and older iOS 5 supported devices . Currently iOS 5 can be jailbroken tethered using Redsn0w . As you may already know that tethered jailbreak requires you to connect with the computer and run “just boot tethered” to reboot your device once it’s turned off . Untethered version has no such steps to follow and you can use your device just like you did before jailbreak which makes it convenient for jailbreak users and hence a preferred jailbreak .
We have semi-tethered tweak on cydia for iOS 5 but it comes with certain restrictions which makes the phone to work with limited functionality when used in semi-tethered mode . We have no information whether the bug also exists in iOS 5.0.1 beta that Apple has seeded to developers recently .
Currently there is no ETA on the release of iOS 5 untethered jailbreak but we can expect a release soon . Stay tuned and subscribe to our Free Newsletter for more information and updates on this topic . Facebook users can join our Fanpage for 24×7 updates .
