Earlier we posted that Pod2g has found two new vulnerabilities on iOS 5.1 firmware that can be used to jailbreak iPhone into untethered mode. The jailbreak will be fine tuned to work with A5 powered processor’s like iPad 2 , iPad 3 and iPhone 4S . Pod2g confirmed in his latest tweet that he has successfully jailbroken his iPhone with thew new jailbreak in untethered mode . The new 5.1 jailbreak will be unique from all of the jailbreak exploits released till date. It will be unique since it uses not just one or two exploits but 7 exploits in total . 5 of these exploits will be used to overcome technical difficulties and rest to bypass legal troubles during public distribution of the tool which pack the exploit .
How is Un-Tethered Better than Tethered Jailbreak :
iOS 5.1 can already be jailbroken tethered using Redsnow and Snowbreeze for iPhone 4 and other A4 powered devices . With tethered jailbreak , the iPhone needs to be connected to a PC or MAC every time you reboot it for some reason (apps requires restart , battery runs out, using gevey sim etc). If you don’t connect to a PC or MAC and use the Redsnow “Just Boot” and Snowbreeze “iBooty” function , your phone will remain stuck on Apple Logo .
Pod2g said on Twitter :
“Heya! My iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 is now untethered . People say don’t release now coz ios 5.1 tethered is good enough . Dont forget there is Apple TV3, 4S,iPad 2 and iPad 3 users out there”
No ETA has been shared as when the jailbreak will be released for public use. Rigorous testing is undergoing to package the exploit into a jailbreak tool bypassing and legal and technical hurdles .
