Pod2g has found a major iOS 5.1 jailbreak vulnerability that can help bring untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4S , iPhone 4 and other iOS devices . The two jailbreak vulnerabilities , namely “Kernel Land” and “Root Land” will be implemented in the next iOS 5.1 jailbreak , which was earlier deferred till iOS 6.0 release . Due to huge public demand , they will be bringing it on for iOS 5.1 users in the coming days .
Currently iOS 5.1 can be jailbroken tethered on iPhone 4 and other A4 powered devices (tutorials) . iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is not supported yet and are unjailbreakable . Since iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.1 upgrade has only a few changes and if developers release the two vulnerabilities now , it will result in being patched when iOS 6 is released which will more than likely show up in a month at WWDC 2012 . With those two jailbreak exploits plugged, there is no guarantees that hackers will find more in the new firmware iOS 6.0 . This update from Pod2g comes just 5 days after the hacker posted a poll on his personal blog asking iPhone users if developers should continue working on an iOS 5.1 jailbreak or hold it until Apple releases iOS 6 firmware . 61% said yes , they should release it on iOS 5.1 .
There is currently No ETA as when the jailbreak will be released . Stay tuned to get the Latest Jailbreak News on our How to Jailbreak page . In the mean time you can check our Forum for all your iPhone , iPad , iPod Touch and Apple TV queries and solutions .
