Today pod2g confirmed that his latest untethered jailbreak exploit on iOS 5 is also working on iOS 5.0.1 firmware . You can see his video release of working iOS 5 untethered jailbreak here .

The new untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.0.1 will support iPhone 4 , iPhone 3GS , iPod Touch 4 , iPod Touch 3G , iPad 1 . This will not unlock your phone . To known more about the latest iPhone Unlock details read this post here and here . Make sure you save your iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 SHSH Blobs before proceeding to jailbreak or firmware upgrade . Downgrade from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 4.3.3 is also possible using new Redsnow update .
Currently there are three iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak tools available for download which can be turned in to semi-tethered using a jailbreak app from Cydia [link] .
Note that there is No ETA on the release of iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak . This jailbreak will not support A5 processor powered devices like iPhone 4S and iPad 2 . To get more updates , Subscribe to our Free Newsletter Updates .

In time, be patient. I’ve already used the Semi-Tether for iOS 5.0.1 and it’s great! But I’d still like to have the Untether, however before I get it – I’d like it to be BUG-FREE and STABLE. So just relax and give them time. I’m sure it’ll be out before December 25th and if not then I’m DEFINITELY sure it’ll be out before NEW YEARS.

Actually POD2G does not own an IPhone 4S, so he has not been able to test it on a 4S.

after updated to 5.0.1 ios, jailbreak it, go to cydia add http:// thebigboss.org/semitether this source, search for semi tether, install it and reboot, thats all, your iphone is jailbreaked with untethered.

What makes you think that there will be a unlock for this BaseBand? There was no unlock for the last 3 BaseBands since August/September 2010 (we are in 2012 soon) so what is different now?
Unlocking BaseBands is not needed anymore since the iPhone sells factory unlocket for way over a year now.

and are locked for 1 yr. After that you have to pay to get

No, William, nobody, not in sweden, not anywhere else, will lock your phone if you bought it factory unlocked. Only subsidised phones are locked and that is understandable and no pain at all. Since you have to get a contract anyway and have to pay for that, why would you want to pay a second contract with a nother company?
Why should a provider pay half the phone, or more, for you and you use somebody else?
After one year you have to pay, true, but after 18month the unlock is free. So, how long runs your original contract?
My original contact is 2yrs. It so happens that I have had this Iphone for a little over a year and I went in and renewed my contact and got a Iphone 4s free so I wanted to unlock the Iphone 4 so I could give it to my wife who has another provider. I’ve never heard that after 18mths that the unlock is free but I’m going to cal them and ask. Tnx for the info.

I called my provider and they told me that I must always pay to get my Iphone 4 unlocked no matter how long I have had it.
That’s strange. My 18 month where estimated, here in Spain contracts are 18month, in Germany, England and as I now know sweden, its 2years, but the unlock after that should be free. Or did you get your first phone compleatly free? Then they are allowed to charge a nominal fee, but its not too much normally.
Why not simply get your wife a second card on your contract with your provider? That way you can talk between for free (or very cheap) and can use the iPhone4 without unlock.
After one year of a two year contract, the unlock fee would be quite high, considering the original price of the phone (that you did not pay) But do not hope of any hack, there is none coming. Sadly for you.

No I didn’t get the 1st Iphone free. It cost me about 440€ with
todays rates. As for the unlock it will cost me about 38.50€ and
I can live with that. The unlock cost is always the same but you
have to have had the contact for at least a year and also you
can get a contract for 1 or 2 years. My 1st Iphone 4 with a 2 year
contact got me the Iphone for 440€ but if I had taken a 1 year,
then the Iphone would have cost a lot more.
As for a new card for my wife, she already has a card from her work. I would just give her the Iphone.
Ok tnx for the info. What I need to do now is read a little on how the jailbreak works so I can try it out when it arrives.

Hey Chriss, here is a question for you.
I’ve been reading a lot about jailbreak and came across
“Downgrading 5.0.1 to 4.3.3″.
Is that possible? I thought I read somewhere that once your on
5.0.1 there is no going back.
There sure is alot of information out there about jailbreak but
very hard to know what is true/possible and not.
For what phone? The 4 can be downgraded, but only if you saved your Blobs BEFORE you upgraded to 5.0 or 5.01. Even then, chances are, that you might get the phone up and running, but with no GSM support (ie an iPod) or/and without wifi or bluetooth. The trick here is, to downgrade and then flash just the new BaseBand again. Depending on your Hardware, Toshiba BaseBand Chip or not, you then can use your phone again. You can not unlock this way, because the BaseBand can not be downgraded again.
The 4S can not be downgraded, unlocked or jailbroken in any Version.

All you impatient people complaining about how quick the untethered jailbreak is being released are annoying jack A$$es! If you want it done quicker how about you get off your lazy butts and do it your d@mn self, otherwise shut the f@$! Up! How do you really get off complaining about something that people are working very hard on to give you for free? FREE!!! Have some patience and some class! Show some respect you ungrateful A$$ h0les!
