How-to Turn your iPhone into a WiFi HotSpot

What is MyWi ?
MyWi is a jailbreak app that allows you to both tether your iPhone and create a WiFi Hotspot so you can share your Internet connection with other computers / WiFi enabled devices around you. The idea of having the iPhone as a WiFi hotspot is amazing . It saves you money on buying a real router.
Benefits of using MyWi :
Just think of it this way. You checked in a hotel which doesn’t provide WiFi. You got a local sim card and a data plan. MyWi will turn your iPhone into a hotspot so that you and your friend can access internet on their Ipod .Your iPhone can connect all WiFi devices within its reach simultaneously over WiFi 2.4 Ghz.
How to Install MyWi ?
- You must have a jailbroken Iphone
- Now launch Cydia and look for “MyWi”
- This app costs like $9.99 . Purchase – Install – Reboot
- Now Launch MyWi and apply custom settings to your – hotspot name – channel – WEP Security
- Enable USB / Bluetooth tethering
Note : Running a router of your iPhone sucks battery . Just keep it plugged in to power to enjoy uninterrupted use.

Hi , thanks for the app . But i am stuck with a problem . My phone gone in safe mode when I install My Wi from Cydia . please help . have i done something wrong
Go back into Cydia and delete the app if restarting your phone did not take it out of Safe Mode.

I haven’t tried MyWi yet, but I just got a Verizon iPhone and to use it as a hotspot (or even a USB modem for my laptop) requires an additional data package at $20 or $30 per month (on top of the data plan you need to use the phone at all, for $30/mo)
I’m using this on my iPod as a normal hotspot but i get “3g” errors. How can i get rid of them?
I just called at&t to ask a technical question cause is less waiting than apple, a big mistake, cause they always transfer people to apple after waisting time with some st00pid question, never the less they pounded me with the tethering topic , insisting that tethering has been noticed only cell and that i was going to need an extra plan to be paid. I guess that the app MY WI no longer will be good anymore, please update us about it.

How do they charge you for this? I dont see it showing up on any of my phone bills from AT&T.
I have an iphone 4 from Verizon that is not currently jailbroken. I pay $30 a month for my hotspot usage and I am only allowed a certain amount of data per month. If I were to jailbreak my phone, using the wifi do I get unlimited data or is it a set amount every month? If I do get unlimited that is reason enough to jailbreak my phone.
Sadly, you cannot transfer songs (or any media for that matter) from an iPod to a PC.This is the worst flaw of iPods.You can, however, download a program that does it for you.
I’m not sure if I understand how MyWi works. I have an AT&T iPhone 4 (iOS 5.0.1) which I was planning to jailbreak via Redsnow shortly, now that an untethered break has just been released. I have an unlimited data plan (grandfathered in) which of course means I cannot tether. FYI, in my area, wanting a tethering plan means losing your unlimited data and dropping down to a 2GB or 5GB plan…forget which. So, does MyWi create a “wifi” like connection between other devices and my iPhone…then use my 3G data connection to AT&T’s network as the principal connection to the internet?
