I have already written a tutorial about how you can save SHSH blobs using Auto- SHSH on your PC/Mac . SHSH Blobs are required to restore to the earlier state of your iDevice if something goes wrong while jailbreaking. Many users who are not quite tech savvy find it difficult to follow the step by step tutorial.

nope , you dont need a JB , just use TinyUmbrella
can i do this for 4.0.2 as well?
@ Dream CHaser : Yes you can do that on any firmware version , will save it to the present state of your iphone 4 , and help in later jailbreak or unlock
what is SHSH Blobs means?.
it is the name given to saved firmware/phone files that preserves your iphone’s state on a given date . Its one fancy name given my the developers , thats it .

Hello everyone i just saved my shsh blobs for the first time but and it was successful. but the file name i got is 2242478269836-iphone4-4.1.shs while i did this on 4.02 why is it that i get 4.1 instead of 4.02??

I need some clarification. I currently am running 4.0.1 on my phone, haven’t upgraded to any of the new firmware releases. Am I able to use TinyUmbrella to save my 4.0.1 SHSH blob? I see answers saying you can’t do it anymore because Apple doesn’t sign off on the older firmware, only 4.1 currently. My 2nd question is do I need to upgrade my firmware from 4.0.1 to 4.1 in order to save my SHSH blob for 4.1?

Hi – does anyone know if you need to do this if you never had anything below 4.1? I’m not jailbroken still waiting for the MAC release for 4.1 on limera1n. Also my main interest is to get tethering.

Can’t find auto shsh so I used umbrella 4.01 and 4.1.9.
On the older version it says Device: INVALID X.X.X (XXXX)
On the newer it doesn’t even notice my device and if i try in recovery mode it says: Cannot start service DO NOT TRY RESTORING YOUR DEVICE!!! Tinyumbrella-4.19.exe(PID:1764) must be killed.
Is there another way to save my shsh?
I am trying to save my shsh blobs using tinyumbrella v4.4.14. I am getting the following message “Cydia does NOT have your shsh for iphone4 4.0(8A293) There is no way for you to get them. sorry. you are just too late”……does this mean that I cannot use tinyumbrella or do i need to change something in the settings?

i need some help, i jailbreaked my iphone 4 with limera1n, however, after instaliing cydia i couldn’t install most of the app’s, therefore tried to do the “Install Complete Essentails” and the problem continued. After that i thought it would be better to jailbreak it again, so i restored my iphone but as the 4.2 firmware was released, now i have that firmware installed.
I going to downgrade it to 4.1, but the problem is that i’ve been reading a lot about SHSH blobs, and i couldn’t understand one thing, if i have firmware 4.2 installed and save SHS blobs, can i downgrade it after? Will i use this SHSH Blob for anything after downgrading my iphone?

Hi there, I am newbie, I don’t seem to know how to restore shsh if I back it up.
Let say my firmware is 4.2.1 and I jailbreak it. After that If I would Want to restore without the jailbreak how do I do it. Do I erase my setting back to factory mode or I just use shsh. And If I use shsh how do I restore it? Pls show me

i had an iPhone 4 with firmware 4.1 and jailbroken it. then i accidentally upgrated it to 4.2.1. When i ran the TinyUmbrella i got my 4.1 SHSH from Cydia as it had obviously been saved. Now if i do a downgrade, will i get any issue? i read somewhere that the baseband won’t get downgraded and the Modem won’t work! Therefore i might loos my Internet on the phone!! it will be more like a NOKIA than iPhone after all which i don’t want!
