How-to Remove Jailbreak from Iphone 4

In my last article i explained how you can Delete Jailbreak Apps from your device using Cydelete , a free to download jailbreak utility that can delete any jailbreak application just like a normal app downloaded from App store .
In this tutorial I will explain how you can remove jailbreak from your device and delete all jailbreak apps along with Cydia .
Steps to remove jailbreak :
- Download latest version of iTunes on your Mac or PC
- Connect your device to your computer and sync your device to back up all data , contacts and settings
- Now click on Restore button as shown in the image below to restore your phone to factory settings
- Your device will now restart for the changes to take place . Sync your phone with iTunes to get back all data and settings previously stored in the device .
Following the steps above you can remove all instances of jailbreak from your device .

tried to jailbreak iphone 4.2.1 and the jail finished but the phone screen says unable to find gbdelist,fs_mount,fs_unmount,fs_load file. Then the program stops
you need tinyumbrella to kick it out of recovery mode, it works for both windows and mac
bought an iphone that was slow because it was jailbroke so i went to the phone under settings to try and reset to factory setting . it said it would take an hour but for two days it has been on a blach screen with the apple in the center. any help would be greatful . the phone is my 11 year old daughter
Long story short, I did the bad thing:
-I4
-Jail Broke w/ Green poison around Mid Feb 2011
-Today accidently hit the “Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings”
Now phone just hangs at boot w/ Green Poison Icon.
Tried reinstalling Green Poison, Tried Itunes restore.
Any ideas?
Well – looks like the first Itunes Restore didnt work right – I ran it again, and it the phone works fine now – rejoice!
If you dont know – Dont ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS is phone is jail broke

Doesn’t work just appears that the device cannot even update nor restore
Tried to jailbreak my iphone 4 v 4.2.7 using Greenpoisi0n RC6. Clicked on Loader and it does nothing. Then I realized the jailbreak was only compatible with v 4.2.1. So I tried to restore my phone back to factory but Apple fails to verify update and gives error code 3194. I also tried to jailbreak with Sn0wbreeze 2.6.1 and I get the same error. Help would be much appreciated.

I figured it out. You have to download Redsn0w and use the 4.2.6 firmware even if your iphone has been updated to 4.2.7 or 4.2.8. This will give you a tethered jailbreak. To get untethered you will need to go to Cydia and Manage Sources and add cydia.pushfix.info and download “Verizon Untether for 4.2.7″(if your iphone is running 4.2.7). If your iphone is running 4.2.8, then you will have to go to Cydia and Manage Sources and add djayb6.com and download “CDMA iPhone untether for 4.2.8″. It sounds complicated but it is fairly simple. Hope this helps. Any further questions let me know.
I am having a problem trying to restore my iphone 4 4.3.4 jailbroken/tethered back to factory settings. I keep getting the error 3194 in iTunes. Can anyone please please help! So frustrated!!!
Same error as Jessica but I’m on 4.3.5 and tethered RedSn0w.
You need to add 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com to you c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file. Then Restore in Itunes and it will work fine. Remove the line from the host file when done.
I have the same issue and i tried what dude said but the same error came up. im not sure what to do anymore ive tried everything i could find.
I’m having the same problem as Jessica, and I’m using windows 7 and I found the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts as an Icalander and a File.. But the only Problem is that i Dont know how to open a File or which program to use to open it and edit it by adding the 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com..
Please Help Me.
Had the same problem, just sorted it though. Take the SIM card OUT then try to restore through Itunes. Worked for me

I am using Good For Enterprise and the policy to not allow jailbroken phones is on. I restored my phone and it still got the error saying it was jailbroken, without a network connected. This means it is finding some local reminants not removed by reloading the ios.
Can anyone tell me what structures JB might leave around, so I can try to work out how to trick GFE to think it is on a non-jb phone?

I already tried [redsn0w 0.9rc16] but Cydia always gets stuck. I tried rebooting the iPhone but to no avail. I also tried going thru the steps of jailbreaking the phone but the results are the same.

yes , you will. But only tethered jailbreak is available for 4.3.5 i.e. each time u need to connect it to PC if ur device reboots or battery dies. Better not to jailbreak 4.3.5.
If u r sure & aware of the procedure then u can downgrade to 4.3.3 & then jailbreak.
How do you downgrade. I am not tech guy at all. so should i take my phone and have someone do it for me. ( i live in UAE right now)

I would suggest not to jailbreak this at all & use as is.

OK, so if I do this and then jailbreak again, can I add all back my old Installous apps somehow? I’m doing this to clear out problems I’ve had with some unidentified tweaks and a problem with having two iTunes accounts in play on the device.

I have tried to restore phone thru itunes and it wont restore. I hve gone thru cydia and deleted it from my phone but it will freeze with the apple icon on the screen and do nothing else, so i had to jailbreak the phone again to get it to even work. plz help me get rid of this !

Hi! I have a problem. About 3 years ago I bought an iphone 2 in the USA with an AT&T simlock. I moved to Germany and had to jailbreak it to be able to use it. Now I have a Mac and an ipod touch and I´ve bought several apps but I cannot sync them on my iphone. I don´t know if there´s a way to undo the jailbreak and keep on using my iphone with my simcard or what would happen if I restore the iphone. The main problem is that I don´t even have the old AT&T simcard anymore. Can somebody help me? Thanks a lot
