How to Jailbreak iPhone 4S

iPhone 4S Jailbreak is finally out . You can now jailbreak iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1 using Greenpois0n untethered jailbreak tool named Absinthe . Follow the tutorial below to jailbreak your iPhone 4S .
Supported Devices :
- iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0, 5.0.1 (9A405 and 9A406)
- iPad 2 WiFi/GSM/CDMA running iOS 5.0.1
Steps to jailbreak iPhone 4S iOS 5.0.1 on Mac : Read for Windows
- Download Absinthe App on your computer . ( available on Mac & Windows )
- Connect your iPhone 4S with the USB cable
- Click on Jailbreak button as shown here .
- Allow Greenpois0n Absinthe app to do the work and put your device in Restore mode .
- Dont Touch the device until the restore is complete .
- Your device will now reboot .
- Search for Absinthe Icon on your phone and tap on it to launch Greenpois0n website .
This will reboot the phone and install Cydia . Now start installing compatible jailbreak apps . - (optional) If that doesn’t happen just open Settings > General > Network and turn on VPN . You’ll receive an error, which you need to dismiss, and then after a few seconds your device will reboot.

As long as ur phone a 4s, this should work.
They say on the original post that it really should be 5.0.1
I have been waiting for this for months! And now when I download the Absinthe app, it just crashes, won’t start up for me at.all.

i just ran this program on my brother mac book pro and it works like a sharm, little hard getting it to install, but just do step 8 with the vpm config and it will reboot and the absinthe turns to cydia.
Followed the directions for my iPad 2 and it worked like a charm. Great Job! Thank You

I am getting these errors. (See Below) I haven’t even got a chance yet to try this jailbreak because the program won’t install. Does anyone know what to do get this running properly? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I have the same problem. Which OS do you have?
10.5.8 and it won’t update to anything else higher.
Mac OS X BTW.
Funny, I have the same OS and I get the same errors. I guess this is only for Lion or maybe Snow Leopard also.
I’m on Lion now on 10.7.2
I’m going to try to download this again and give it another go! I hope this works!
just downloaded the application for an imac but when i open it i cant click the jailbreak button! someone help please.

Ok so Absinthe is now doing it’s jailbreak. How long does it normally take for this to be done? It seems like it’s just been sitting in the same spot for a few minutes now.

4-10 minutes make sure you run it correctly and try to delete it an download again
If it’s a blank white screen, then go to VPN like the instructions say, a few seconds later it should reboot.

When i Open the app to do the jailbreak i cant click on the jailbreak button. Its as if the computer doesnt detect the phone !

what should i do now?

try taking if the vpn and then fo absinth. it will appear white and you see loading circle then go out of it, and then take on the vpn again.
This Jailbreak isn’t doing anything at all…..It’s still at the same spot. I’ve restarted it a few times and it doesn’t do anything….What seems to be the issue?
be patient, and look for the “restore progress” on the iphone when you pressed jailbreak, dont put it in dfu mode or anything like that
I didn’t put it in dfu mode. I just waited and waited and nothing was happening. Maybe I should try and do it like Joachim and give it a go on Snow Leopard…I’ll boot into that and give it a go one more time. I’ll be up on here in a few to provide my progress on it.

wow, its odd how you people can have problem with this when i did it in one go.. i used mac book pro snow leopard and it worked took about 4-10 mins to jailbreak it
Ok I know many people are asking why does the 4S already have a jail break but 4 on ios 5.0.1 bb 04.11.08 not have one???

I downloaded on Snow Leopard and it opened up fine
It asked me to plug in my phone so I did.
After I plugged it in….it didn’t do anything….
It still says Plug in your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to begin….
I’ll just wait for more updates…We all waited this long for this so I guess it doesn’t hurt to wait more….

Well if it recognizes on Lion and not on Snow Leopard…It’s not the device I can assure you on that. I honestly couldn’t even figure out what it really could be.

Ok I did this this morning an it worked fine 10-15 mins and now I have Cidia but all the packages are ether not found or it won’t let me install anything keeps telling me that it can’t find the package is anyone having this problem or what’s going on?
