when I go into jailbreakMe.com it says that it is 2.0. not 3.0

I have the old greenpois0n 4.2.1, and maintaining unlocked baseband 01.59.00. Do I first have to upgrade to 4.3.3 to use the jailbreakme? will this unlock the new baseband that will inevitably be installed? Is there a way to upgrade to 4.3.3 while maintaining old baseband?
My iphone 4 was jailbroke and I remain on the previous version waiting on a jailbreak for the 4.3.3 version. Now that it came out I updated to 4.3.3 and used jailbreakme; I pressed “FREE”, then “INSTALL” and the Cydia icon appear on my screen, started to download but in the middle of the installation, it stopped and disappeared, not jailbreaking the iphone. Is there another tool needed?
I had the same thing happen to me on my ipad 1. I upgraded to 4.3.3 and it didn’t work. So then after doing a restore and setting up ipad as new device it worked properly. Cydia installed.

i’ve tried redsnow, and snowbreeze, but they can’t find .ipsw file. i’ve downloaded and unzipped ios4.3.3 several times, but i cant find an .ipsw file either. Am i doing something wrong? do I need to rename a file? any help would be greatly appreciated.
what is the file that you get. If its a .zip , rename it to .ipsw and it will work well. If you are not getting it to work , probably your are downloading the wrong file . iTunes can detect .ipsw files if installed on your PC
hmm, i bet ur using widows explorer.. change to google chrome or mozzilla fireox and it will be an ipsw file explorer takes it as a zip file

Downloaded iphone firmware from here http://www.iphone4jailbreak.org/ios-4-3-3-ipsw-download.html and placed it on the desktop, then downloaded reds0w_mac RC15 from here http://www.iphone4jailbreak.org/download-redsn0w-rc15-redsnow.html (which the download was actually rc16), unzipped, clicked on the pineapple and follow the instructions. Make sure your phone is OFF and connected to the computer. I have a Macbook Pro, so make sure you download the right redsn0w (mac or windows)

i have the iphone4 fw 4.3.3 (not jailbroken) and i went to jailbreakme.com. Whein i pressed install, the cydia box popped up and started loading. then it just disappeared. i have tried restarting my phone but it does the same thing over and over and over again. Any Advice from anyone?????

Dont know why you bricked your phone, this is what I did:(all in a Mac)
1. downloaded and update to the last version of iTunes
2. downloaded and update the iphone4 to 4.3.3 version (last jailbreak will be erased)
3. Then went to the website link I posted above and downloaded the ipsw firmware and saved it to the desktop.
4. Using the link above, downloaded the Mac version of redsn0w rc15 (note that I stated that after download and opened it showed rc16)
5. Connect the iphone to the Mac computer, back up and sync.
6. Turn the iphone OFF
7. Open redsn0w and click on the Pineapple
8. Follow the instructions, hold on button, hold home button, etc
9. The cydia icon was on the iphone, but as a blank icon, clicked on it and opened cydia
Thats it..then in cydia searched for the pATCH 2 and installed it
Only took me about 3 minutes, no brick, no problem

yep , Kev left a short but scary note . i dnt know how many new jailbreakers would have changed their mind in the last minute after reading it . several hours of work done by iphone devs to bring a reliable userland jailbreak , WASTED

I installed jailbreakme.com as a friend told me that it was free, well now my phone is stuck on the apple screen, I can’t do anything, I can’t even connect via cable thru itunes for a restore.

what version did you have? Have you tried rebooting? What have you tried if anything?
Tried to reboot, nothing just hangs at apple screen, I can hold the front button and power button to get it to boot up in itunes but that it. My dilemma is i did not back up photos of my kids. That is all I need.

From my exprience, If your phone stuck on Apple logo, Its actually in RECOVERY MODE, you have to get out from there. Press Sleep button and Home button simultaneously for 10 second or until iTunes Beep once that its can detect your phone. Then you can restore your phone to the latest iOS 4.3.3. Good luck to all…
The pictures most likely will be lost. What you can do is turn off your iPhone. Download the latest software 4.3.3 and save it on your desktop. Now, if you are using a PC, plug in your cable into the computer first. Then, press the home button and keep pressing it, and connect the cable. Do not let go of the home button. This is a hard reboot and iTunes will open up after about 30 seconds or less, and state that it has found an iPhone in recovery mode. It will either ask you to restore it to a previous time, or to restore it with the latest software. Your obvious choice would be to restore it to a prior time. This will give you everything from the last time you updated but would not include a jailbreak. This should work. Let me know.
I am using a Gevey sim unlocked iPhone 4 with 4.2.1 and 3.10.1 and tried to jailbreak it with Cydia. After downloading, I tried to install it and my phone turned off authomatically. I tried to re-boot it and all I got is an Apple Logo. What wrong did I do? Please help.

I would Definately stay away from jailbreakme.com, even the after several emails the guy who built it admits there are several problems and will ultimately brick your phone and you will have to restore your iPhone!
After much dissection, I there landing page is no more then a simple gif made to look like a iTunes download, that in itself is sneaky and intended to pill you in with out explanation of the possible issues and lost date you could suffer from!
I strongly this is a security risk and malware for you apple device!

the reason people crash with jailbreakme.com is because if u want to use userland jailbreak u will have to restore it then install jailbreakme and then fill in the backup thats in cydia

When I sync my iPhone 4 (Verizon) with iTunes and check for software updates, it still says I’m running the current version…which is 4.2.8—any idea why it’s not updating to the newer versions?

I have the White iPhone 4, I restored it and then my friend installed his cut t-mobile sim card, it was working just fine .. I toke my O2 sim card, cut it and put it in and it shows ( no sim installed ) …. why? what should I do?

There is no way to unlcok that firmware unless u use a gevey sim.

For all of you who are too lazy to research further, THIS WILL NOT WORK ON CDMA IPHONES (namely the verizon iPhone) Attempting to jailbreak a Verizon iPhone will result in a bricked or unusable iPhone.

Hi I got a iPhone 4 from a relative but the previous owner’s data is still on there how do i delete everything including his settings etc. and a dont also know the standard unlocking code.
hmm, sounds unlikley that u got it from a family member and cant get passcode up, but anyways u gotta put iphone in dfu mode and then press restore, if u have somehow stolen it, i would advice u to gve it to the police because they can trace the imei code in the iphone =D

I used this software and easily jailbroke my phone. I am now wondering how to restore my phone to the original settings without bricking it. Any suggestions please?

Use Gevey Sim to unlock your phone and proceed with jailbreaking. You may try using jailbreakme aside from redsnow.
All the things I read that the Apple iPhone4 can do once it’s “Jailbroken” is things you can already do on most Android phones………sheep

I tried doing the redsnow but I got some kind of error. Then I had to reload using iTunes. Sadly I forgot my password for my encrypted backup and had to start fresh
