Chronic Dev Team has released Greenpoison Jailbreak RC5 for iOS 4.2.1 Firmware Untethered on Windows – Linux and Mac OS. Latest release of GreenPoison can jailbreak your iphone 4 3GS ipod touch 4 3G 2G and ipad without the need of 4.2b3 SHSH Blobs as required on RedSn0w 0.9.6b4 4.2.1 Tethered Jailbreak.
Please don’t forget to Upgrade your iOS Firmware Safely to 4.2.1 preserving your unlocked baseband 1.59.00 and then unlock your phone via UltraSnow Unlock Tool. Follow the step by step tutorial below to jailbreak your phone using Greenpoison RC5.

Steps to Jailbreak iPhone 4 4.2.1 with Greenpoison :
- Download Greenpoison RC5 for your Computer [Mac - Windows]
- Unzip the downloaded file on your desktop and launch the application
- Connect your Iphone 4 3GS iPod Touch 4 and iPad to your computer and turn it off . Click on Jailbreak button on the Greenpoison app .
- Greenpoison app will now show on-screen instruction to put your device in DFU Mode
- You will now be prompted to press and hold the sleep button for 3 secs [image below]
- After 3 seconds continue holding the sleep button and press the Home button for the next 10 seconds .
- Now release the sleep button after 10 seconds have passed. Keep holding the Home button for next 15 seconds before your device goes into DFU Mode and the jailbreak process will begin automatically . [try this two-three times to perfect the timing] . Allow the process to complete . It will now show some codes running on your device.
- After the Greenpoison tool has completed the jailbreaking process , close the app and look for green Loader Icon on your device[image below].
- Tap on the Loader Icon and install Cydia .
You have now jailbroken your iphone 4 on iOS 4.2.1 using Greenpoison . If you find any difficulty while following the above tutorial , Feel free to ask your question in the Jailbreak Forum . No Registration Required .
Update – No Cydia :
Many users are facing No Cydia after having successful jailbreak . For them use Redsnow to rejailbreak and only use the install cydia option. This will give an untethered jailbreak via Greenpoison and redsnow to fix cydia problem.

I used for bb 3.10.1 and it’s not working, we need ultras0w for frimewire 3.10.1. When it’s relased should i rejailbreack my phone with greenpoison or the new ultras0w will appear in cidya????? Please help me. Should i restore my phone????
You can jailbreak now then unlock later, and when unlocks out u dont have to restore. Just download from cydia.

I was tryin to jailbreak my iphone 4 via greenpoison and i don’t succeed and later I restore it and my phonw was automatically upgraded to version 4.3.1 and now i want to degrade ma iphone back to 4.2.1(which was d original one).

I downloaded the firmware of 4.2.1 tethered for my iphone..a week goes by and it had been really solid. it recently died on me yesterday and ive been working endlessly to recover my phone to actually use, but i’ve done what I think Iknow to try to recover it..itunes doesnt recognize anything plugged in andthe only thing I can do is reboot tethered and i’m getting a Pineapple (it stays on there for the longest time, then shuts off..and the regular apple symbol pops up) any suggestions so a guy can get his phone back running?
Hey, man. I guess you’ll have to do an emergency recovery through Itunes to your current IOS, turn on your device to make sure it is working properly and than re-jailbreak it using greenpoison.
There are some softwares for emergency recovery if Itunes doesn’t work, I just can’t remember their names. Try typing it on Google Search…

If you had redsn0w tethered on, you can just run it with greenpois0n. no need to restore!

Yes you can use this.
Unlock is after jailbreak, and jailbreak works on every device. However, unlock does not

@iHayyo, When you say we are you assuming you speak for the rest of us because you dont. I personally have a sim free phone so dont need an unlock because I chose to pay the extra for sim free. I am therefore have been waiting patiently for the Jailbreak, which these kind peeps have been working on tirelessly on our behalf, because we dont have the inteligence to do it for ourselves, when it comes out I will be grateful and util then I wont be b!tch and critical of them like you seem to be so STFU.

sorry, but that is no argument. Because there is expensive software, there must be the possibility to steal it? My3g,(not working to any level of satisfaction) is a good reason, to open your iPhone to all kinds of security vulnerabilities? why not use SKYPE instead? Works a charm, is free and allows for cross platform communicators. 1000s of Apps apple is not allowing? Hello? Apple refused a total of 1740 Apps. In all its existence. Nearly all of them for security reasons, p0rn, local laws (nazi 1ns1gn1@ in germany) or simply they did not work.
At 320000 Apps currently in the store, that is negligible.
What absolutely necessary App is available in Cydia? After all, the original reason for jailbreaking was Cydia, the people running it made millions.
More however looking for installus and that is plain and simple theft.
If we had an Unlock factory in our country we would of bought it, but the thing that happens that we receive them from the US so they come LOCKED so before you start whining about getting an UNLOCKED phone you should first study the situation your facing, and yes I am speaking behalf all the 02.10.04 that is Locked, so if you could please STFU and leave your comment for yourself…

Well, some of us really do want a Jailbreak. Since I like AT&T I see no need to unlock my phone. But i do want Cydia/Icy and want iTracker and iGotYa for security reasons. For those of you who haven’t used those..they work great! My mom drove off with my iphone still in her car and i didn’t know it. I thought it was stolen, of course i texted my mom and she decided to play a prank on me and told me it was stolen…then she started messing with it and couldn’t get past the lock code, so i got an email with the gps location of my phone and a pic of who was trying to use it, and caught my mom in the act of a stupid prank. and since my lil brother just had his blackberry stolen, i really want those apps even more.

Hey, I’m having the same problem, using the OSX version. I’ve tried using greenpois0n several times (with factory restores in between each attempt) but I get the same result every time. The “Loading Sources” icon comes up whenever I try launching the loader app, but nothing appears on the screen. I honestly have no idea what the baseband is, or how to find it. It’s a third-generation iPod touch. Model MC008LL. Version 4.2.1 (8C148)
Ok, still a newbie here but I am running the tethered JB redsn0w on my iphone 4 4.2 with baseband 03.10.01… will this new GP un-tethered work on my phone and if so will I have to reinstal all of my apps and games when running this program to untether it?

I’m speculating as I’m waiting till Monday to get it factory unlocked, then I’ll jailbreak.
I’m guessing if we’re referring to installous apps, make sure you have the itunes patch installed from cydia. Then backup your phone in itunes.
Next factory reset it back to 4.2.1 (assuming you don’t need unlock crack). Don’t restore the backup yet. Next, jailbreak it using green pois0n. Then install cydia, installous and the itunes patch.
Now you should be able to backup the phone in itunes with no problem.
mine was iphone 4 4.2.1 tethered JB on redsnow and directly use this GP untethered and it works, all apps not affected no need to re-install

The jailbreak works on any BB, but for now BB 02.10.04 and 03.10.01 can’t be Unlocket you will have to wait fot that. Any news about the Windows Version ?
This jail break is for firmware 4.2.1. It has nothing to do with your baseband. I repeta it is only for jailbreaking firmware version 4.2.1. The baseband issue is for unlcoking your phone not jail breaking. So if you are on firmware 4.2.1 it will work for you no matter what baseband you have.

keep trying loading the loader, the server is slow n overloaded now. if u try hard enough with a good wifi connection, the cydia option will appear.
next install cydia. same issue with slow server as such, keep trying until u get a downloading % running.
note keep your iph active n not let it go to idle mode while downloading cydia to 100% or yr effort will be wasted n u hv to redownload again. one way is to put yr finger on the iph screen while u r downloading. i personally hv to download a few times to get this right.
Just used this to JB my iPhone 4 with 4.2.1, MAC OSX Snow Leopard and I have no Cydie in loader? Just trying a reboot to see if that changes anything but help please anyone??

Hey Jason,
Just do what Mesh said.
Run the tethered Redsn0w 4.2.1 jailbreak and download the 4.2.1 ipsw (Mesh provided the link).
Run the Redsn0w jailbreak and only check the “install cydia” box, and go through the motions of jailbreaking using Redsn0w.
Once done, you should have Cydia running.
To remove loader, just run loader and click options, and there should be an option there that says remove loader.app. just check that and your phone will reboot.

firstly ushould download redsnow 0.9.6.b4,than download ipsw latest firmware for ur phone than run redsnow in window xp mode and run as administrator,than browse redsnow and find where u should download ipsw file,click it,than run,than click ‘install cydia’,than switch off ur phone,follwing steps ur watching on redsnow,when done than same againand click ‘just boot tethered now’,ur cydia is install,ok.
So, I’ve rebooted three times, and I’ve just used Greenpoison again and still Loader is empty. Ideas anyone?

Ok well not sure if this JB works…
I successfuly JB my iphone4 with the redsn0w tethered JB in windows, it allowed me to get past the “emergency” screen as my phone is from US and wont let me “activate” without special sim from US.
Redsn0w JB got past this “activation” screen, think its called “hacktivation”.
This Greenp0ison does not, I’m now stuck at the “emergency” screen… and itunes wont activate ofcourse.
Either Greenp0ison is not working properly or they forgot to add the hacktivation into the JB, hope redsn0w release untethered soon.

they said that this jb won’t hackactivate so you would have to keep the tethered from redsnow

They both have independant path for jb.
Same problem. No sources loading. Tried three times. Comes up “Error, Make sure you are connected to the internet before loading.” Tried through 3G and WiFi.

In my install, I also ended up with nothing in the loader. I then ran Redsn0w and checked “install Cydia” – it ran through the process with the result that I now have Cydia installed AND still have the unteathered GreenPois0n jailbreak.

Yea just installed 4.2.1 from itunes Jailbreak with greenpois0n rc5-2 with no Cydia in loder then used RedSnow 0.9.6b4 and just installed cydia opetion then Booted with Greenpois0n apple logo and Bingo! can confim this works

Most of us don’t care to hear about JB until there is a unlock. It is getting ridiculous!

Keep trying. Must be a lot of contention. I tried 3x before it started downloading. In process right now, but it is slow.
I should have added, I had to try 3x to get the loader to load Cydia, and that Cydia is taking a long time to dl. I’m at 70% right now, and it’s been going for about 10 minutes.

Nice work! Just jailbroke my iPhone 4.2.1. It works great but there is one minor problem. My app text titles got grey from white. That got my atention because I had a wallpaper that made it impossible to read the app title. I had to change my wallpaper 4 that matter.
So I have a question. How can I make the text white again?

I didn’t needed the DFU. Just used the greenpoison. My iPhone was jailbroken b4 but in tethered mode, so now it is untethered.

NO.. per MUSCLENERD & DEV-TEAM and Sherif_Hashim, they stated that unlock will not come until AFTER official FW 4.3 is released… and that is IF it is even jailbreakable.. since just recently, apple closed the exploit on 4.3 by mistake.. Again, this is all per MUSCLENERD.. (i have been following his twitter). So wait patiently (as i am also waiting for this unlock on 03.10.01 & 02.10.04)..

Nope, just run GP and let it do it’s thing, after it reboots all of your apps and setting will still all be there as if nothing happened. I just used GP on my iphone 4 (tethered with redsn0w) last night (used the mac at work) and it worked without any glitches what so ever, maybe I got lucky……..
my results:
after trying for several hours.. i finally got it to JB on my iphone 4. This is exactly what i did.
1. i went thru the process of JB’ing my iphone with GP. My phone was paused at “greenpoison initialized..” (the usual verbage that everyone has been getting)..as i looked too my MAC screen, i saw GP say “complete”. But, my iphone 4 was still in a paused mode at “greenpoison initialized”. so, i closed GP, and reopened it, and i pressed on the “sleep” button for 2 seconds, and all of a sudden, GP on my MAC screen started up as if it was having a hicup of some sort.. and my iphone started running with the JB process..
After the JB process was complete, i looked at my iphone to find the “loader”.. and when i pressed on it, it said it was “initializing loader”.. it took 3 seconds, and when it was done, NO CYDIA..
so what i did was, i went on MUSCLENERD’s twitter.. and i noticed that, if you use redsnow 0.9.7b4 to install cydia, this would not affect the “unthethered” JB on your iphone.. all it does is force the iphone to accept cydia.. as if you downloaded an app from app store.. anyway,
so i dowloaded the redsnow that was given to me by POD2G on his twitter and used 4.2.1 FW, and ONLY clicked on “install cydia” in redsnow, and went through the usual process, and i finally installed cydia on my UNTHETHERED JB iphone 4. hurrayyyy

back the famous-unlock able version of bb !!!!

Hmm.. I tried jailbreaking with GP RC5_2.. but once it goes into DFU mode and I get the white blank screen… it goes on to show that I get error codes about ‘unable to find certain files’?? but at the end of it, it says greenpoison initialized.. And then nothing happens, though the app on my mac says the jailbreak is complete… I don’t get any loader icon after I reboot my device too.. Any ideas?

i had the same problem first. and i found out that you must unzip the files on the desktop and not other folders. and it worked perfectly!

Or do i have to do something special?

Your apps. Can always be reinstalled, for that you need to jb with the famous GP tool, read the instructions

im using an ipad running on ios 4.2.1
i jailbreak using the rc5 windows version(im on win7 and running the app in xp3 mode),
i followed all the steps and it said jailbreak complete
however i found the ipad freeze on a white screen for a few seconds,
and then it just loaded a few lines of commands and boot normally
on the spring board i cant find the loader and cydia icon
-everything seems to be the same as before
is there any way to fix this please?

If yes, after upgrade to 4.2 do my limerain jailbreak gone? If its still has the jailbreak do i just jailbreak once more with this new jailbreak or i should restore the phone? Okay. I have tried upgrade from ios 4.1 to 4.2.1 and from there, the previous jailbreak of mine from limerain is gone. So i proceed to jailbreak with greenpoison and it successfully jailbreak my phone and i tried to install my cydia from loader and it succeed too. No problem with the no cydia! =D
what about the apps (pirated for installous and those cydia apps)? re-download and re-install them again ? or just resync from itunes?

For anyone in the same situation as me who’s wondering – I just bought a new iPhone 4 from 02 on pay monthly (contract, locked) and foolishly updated to 4.2.1.
I wanted a jailbrake purely for 5 Icon dock and SBS toggles. I have run greenpoison and successfully jailbreaked my phone (on the 03.10.01 baseband).
It’s not unlocked as I don’t need that but I have requested an unlock from O2 which they now do for free even within the contract period so once that’s done I should be all set.

Ok, I have managed to get an “untethered” JB including activated iphone4.
Greenpoison will not activate the phone, but tethered (windows) redsnow JB will.
I first restored my phone to default 4.2.1.
Then I JB the phone with greenpoison (win).
Phone was successfuly JB’oken but not activated.
I then JB again using redsnow (unticked install cydia option) tethered (win).
The phone is now JB and activated, I can turn it off/on without tethering. I’m not sure which JB has taken over, as during boot the greenpoison skull shows up, so it seems greenpoison is the JB while redsnow simply activated.
Good luck to those needing activation if you purchased in another country.

Not unlocked, but activated (iphone needs activation from origin country sim before allowing you to use it past the emergency calls screen). This only applies to people who have purchased phones overseas or on ebay.
Activation = country sim required to unlock phone before first use
Unlock = unlock so you can use any carrier

As we all are talking about Jailbreaiking new IOS thats very nice to hear… But the more important issue that I am sure millions are looking for is to UNLOCK the 02.10.04 Baseband issue… we still can’t use our iPhone 4 with the 4.1 update… fixing that issue I think we will be more happy than Jailbreaking newer versions and we still can’t use the old one to upgrade to the new one since we all have problems with some USA baseband…

Be patient.
Make sure phone is OFF when starting otherwise it will error out and you will need to go into DFU and JB again.
If it’s JB with redsn0w – you won’t get a Loader icon, cydia and the sources remain untouched from the RS jb.
Be patient – whilst it does reboot untethered, it takes an age – mine rebooted 3 times before Springboard appeared.

good to see u jb at first try. I hv a similar 3gs firmware 4.2.1 bb 5.14.04 but was unable jb it over a many tries. GreenPoison starts running but stops at the first green bar.

Hey folks. Read heaps on latest GP jb for Windows. I’ve seen a YouTube vid where the guy put ip4 into DFU BEFORE beginning the jb. He then clicks “jailbreak” and it skips the first bit and goes straight to jb. Comments?? Also, do I need wifi at ANY stage? eg load Cydia after jb with Loader?? I am on 3G signal. Finally, I updated to 4.2.1 when it came out (bb 03.10.01 never jb before) do I have to do a factory restore in iTunes prior to GP jb?? Thanks guys
@Frank : if you are on 4.2.1 , u need not restore. Ho ahead with GP JB. For loading Cydia , get either WiFi or 3G whichever works … but should be an uninterrupted data connection .

I jailbroke my ipad after like 30 times first 27 times on mac and 3 times on windows (windows own)
IOS4.2.1 successfully done with GP RC5 on Windows 7.
I had to DFU it twice, and JB it also twice. Only advice I can give is to be patient with the software. The first time, I saw the console output on the screen (small little letters) and it died there. 2nd time worked like a charm.
BTW Mobile Terminal only starts and then flashes away, any one have any success with that?
You will need to download Mobile Terminal (New). I tried with others it flashes too.

But… I have one problem!
I’m not able to use the 3G network, so no internet outside Wi-Fi, MMS or even FaceTime!!

Is there a proper method for updating a jailbreak? Let me explain. I have an iphone 4 running 4.1 and jailbroke with limera1n. If I want to update to 4.2.1 and use GP, will I have to reinstall all cydia apps? Now that rock and cydia merged, will cydia have a list of installed apps to use rather then selecting and installing each one all over again?
Should I just wait for the 4.3 and jailbreak?

i have 3 iphone 3gs’s FW 4.2.1 bb 6.15. the first one worked perfect restored FW with itunes then used GP to jailbreak then installed cydia and ultrasnow source worked like a charm. Everything perfect. the 2nd and 3rd ones also went through same process and seem fully unlocked however after a few minutes the iphones loose reception. restored iphones and completed all over again but same thing. Was the first one just a fluke?? should it work perfect. Is there anything else i can try.

I got a verizon iphone 4 for a work phone and have been instructed to test its security. Ive run greenpoison rc5 on it and I have the greenladder icon after a reboot. no errors observed during the running of green poison.
I try to run green ladder and that app looks like it is not working. Im investigating further. If the devs want me to test anything I have permission from my management and if the phone bricks its aparently ok with my boss.

Just jailbroke with GreenPois0n for Windows last night. Followed all the directions carefully and it worked without a hitch. I have the Iphone 4 Modem Firmware 03.10.01. The only issue I have is the lack of apps for IOS 4. I miss not being able to use the apps I had on my jailbroken 3G. But it is working with no bugs at all. I recommend updating to the latest version of iTunes as it is jailbreak friendly and has no problems syncing and backing up hacked and/or jailbreak specific apps.
Can anyone help me answer this pls. I have carrier unlock on ip4 3.10.01. If I jb now via GreenP, am I going to loose the unlock? Thanks

I just updated my iphone 4 to 4.2.1 ios using itunes not really caring that my baseband would be updated. However, as seen through the log files, itunes stopped when it tried to update my baseband. I tried three times but to no avail. So i found you can use greenposion once you put it in dfu mode even if you get the error 1013 from itunes. My iphone is now jailbroke with ios 4.2.1. Has anyone else had this experience before? Is it normal that itunes couldn’t update my baseband?

My IPAD was 4.2.1 JB tethered with Redsn0w. Just tried untethered JB with Greenpois0n WITHOUT restoring back to normal 4.2.1. It was sucessfully completed. No need to reinstall Cydia. Every App is kept the same. The process was so quick!
Hi, I am using iphone 3G with 4.2.1 firmware. As I am new to jailbreaking, I dont have any saved SHSH Blobs to go back to 4.0.1. Is there any way for me to jailbreak? It seems that GreenPoison does not support iphone 3G. It would be great if anyone could help me out with it. Thanks!

I did it and it worked perfectly. However I had an issue installing hacked apps which I downloaded from torrents but managed to fix it by installing Installous on my iphone
Now it runs everything with no problem.

I’ve tried rc4,rc5 and rc5 b4..it doesn’t work..
I followed the instructions and had positively completed the jail-break process. I downloaded a few applications however later when I want to download an application I am unable to as it states “API Error, Access Denied”.

Ok, so I’m jailbroken with redsnow, iphone 4 4.2.1 3.10. All I did was plug into itunes and sync, then close itunes and run greenpoison. When it was done, I was still jailbroken, however, now untethered, all my jailbreak apps are still there, cydia still there working as normal, and I restarted to make sure I was untethered and I am. It is incredibly easy and it doesn’t even require you to reinstall all your apps or use pkg backup or anything, it’s almost TOO easy!
**Update**
Same thing with the iPad running 4.2.1. Super easy. Only thing with iPad is that I had to run it 3 times b/c I didn’t get it into DFU mode the first 2 times so the apple icon was just on the screen. Ignore it and consider the iPad powered off when u see it and just follow the instructions. Again, st00pid easy.

Untethered means you don’t have to hook up to your PC/Mac every time you have to restart your phone (for example when you run out of battery)… If you have an unththered JB then your fine

Hey there, anyone knows what’s up with the greenp0ison website?
For who has issue with process kept failing… Try on another PC with latest iTunes installed. Disable Auto-Lock in the Settings – General. Connect your i4 once so the driver is installed. Launch GP with Administrator privilege and XP compatible mode (If applicable). For me this is the trick, TIMING as other had indicated. I wait until the GP said press both Sleep and Home key started to count down then I start to do: Power Up (2s), Press both buttons (Until the screen goes blank), Release the Sleep button immediately after the screen goes blank, by this time the GP should be just start to count down on the last part where it waits for DFU mode and changed to the clickable ‘Jailbreak’ button. Now you can releas the Home button and click on the ‘Jailbreak’ button and you should see the i4 screen goes white and the GP status bar moving/reset/moving… etc. If not, try adjusting your procedures again.
I’ve been playing with this for few days and I figured that GP is not able to see my DFU mode in time to start doing it’s process, so I kept on adjusting my procedures to match with it. I think pressing the Home button too long will not work. As what we need to do is to get the phone in DFU mode right at the time GP looking at it. The count down timing in the UI is too generous. You just need to do those steps until the phone response (apple icon comes up, blank screen, DFU mode-GP enable the button) and just wait for GP.
I’m not sure why some ppl will have the ‘connect to iTune’ screen before the GP start to work. You can have that screen by keep pressing the Home button when the phone boots up and the apple logo show up. It will give you that connect to iTune screen.

I have tried the greenpois0n a few times now. The problem I am having is that the loader never launches. Then it looks like the apple and the skull “fight” to see who is gong to control the system and tehn the apple comes back up. Is anyone else having this problem?

I’ve just jailbroken my iphone4( iOS4.2.1, 3.10.01 baseband) which has already had redsn0w tethered on.
It might fail on the first time but don’t give up, try several times…it will work eventually…(mine worked on the 2nd time…^^)
-You don’t need to restore or backup, whatever is in your phone will still remain.

Try turning off your WiFi connection and then loading the Loader.app via 3G. I had this same issue and as soon as I loaded the app over 3G it allowed me to install without any further issues.

I just used greenpoison rc6.1 on windows 7 for my iPhone 4 (at&t) 4.2.1 and it worked flawlessly. Takes a few minutes and I am officially downloading apps on Cydia now. Wifi Hotspot tethering free through PDAnet. Thanks for the tutorial!
I had been using redsn0w to retether my ipod for weeks and it suddenly just stopped working when I tried to boot tethered. Greenpoison did the trick and now all my apps are back and I don’t have to retether it everytime the battery dies. Nice work

I did it on Windows xp. And it worked perfectly. My iphone is factory unlocked(singapore iPhone) so i don’t know if you could unlock it. But i believe that there’s still no released unlock method for our kind of baseband(03.10.01).

i bought the same model as yours and i’m using my own phone company, i think the model we have is factory unlocked so i don’t know why u want to unlock it again..i just JB mine few days ago using GP RC 6.1 on win7 64bit, it works.

Hi, everyone. I jailbroke my Iphone 4.2.1 (8C148)firmware 03.10.01 months ago, when it was still tethered. It worked perfectly, just great. The question is: I’d like to make it untethered by now with any of the apps available in here, but will I loose everything I’ve downloaded until now?
I don’t feel like restarting the search and the download of everything I aready have on my device.
Does anyone know the answer or have any suggestion about the best app to perform the untethered jailbreak of an already-tethered-jailbroken-iphone without reseting it to factory standard?

I need help from you all guys. Few days back a bought a phone from a person in UK. He said that the phone was unlocked and I confirmed this by using t-mobile and orange sims. Both of the them worked fine. After purchasing the phone I reset it to default factory settings and then I used my friends Orange UK sim to activate it and it worked fine. Now when I have brought the phone to India it’s not working althoigh the phone is activated. I realized that it’s 4.2.1 BB 03.10.01 with no unlock available in the market. I called aaple and they said that it’s locked with Orange. When I called Orange, they told me that that the IMEI number mentioned by me is listed as blacklisted by other network provider and therefore it was not purchased with Orange. I am confused what to do? and how to unlock it? Can I jailbreak it?
I “successfully” jailbroke my iPhone 4 (4.2.1 firmware 3.10.1) according to Green Poison’s newest RC6.1 software. However, after getting a new contract with the local service in Germany, it still gives me an “Invalid SIM” upon startup of the phone. We have checked the SIM card, it’s operable in another phone. Do I need to switch any settings in the iPhone itself? Why will it not accept the SIM card?

That’s exactly what I did. I posted it some months ago right here at this topic.
I was tethered by redsn0w and became untethered by greenpois0n. All my apps remained the same. It was just awesome, no problem at all. Very easy and safe. To me, at least.
You should give it a try and then post the results back here for everyone to know them. How’s that for you?
One more question.. If I do use greenpoison can I restore my phone to it’s original state for warranty purposes etc..?
Well, this is something I don’t know. What I do know is that you can restore your device using iTunes.
Remember: I said before that I was already tethered-jailbroken by redsn0w and became untethered by greenpois0n, my IOS is 4.2.1.
I have jailbroken my cousin’s device last week by redsn0w and all his apps remained at there. Note: he wasn’t jailbroken yet, that was his device’s first try and worked fine, but it was on version 4.3.3.
