I upgraded to ios 4.1 for my iphone4. Stupid i know but i was told that it was ok to upgrade to 4.1 since there wasn’t gonna be any upgrade for 4.0.2. Unfortunately, I don’t have my shsh blobs saved as i’m fairly new to jailbreaking (1st iphone). So since I already upgraded to 4.1 do I lose my jailbreaking abilties when the jb for 4.1 comes out? Or am i alright and just need to be patient?
someone correct me if i’m wrong, but if u updated to ios4.1 from 4.0.2 and subsequently updated your baseband, it just means that your fone will be carrier locked. it won’t affect JB’ing to gain access to cydia right?

I have an iPhone 4 version 4.0.2 and modem firmware is 01.59.00. After I upgrade from 4.0.1. I try to jailbreak and unlocked but it is not work. Can anyone help me with it?

i had the same case (iphone 4 4.0.2 baseband 01.59.00) i upgraded it to 4.1……..easy steps….download tinyumbrella 4.1.3 or newer, just open the program, click on start TSS server, open itunes, restore iphone to 4.1 and almost by the end of the process will give you an error 1004, it means that your baseband was not able to be updated….great!!! this means that whenever the jailbreak for 4.1 comes out, you will be able to unlock it as well….FYI: you dont need to have your shsh blobs saved (4.0.1 nor 4.0.2) i suggest you to saved 4.1 blobs though….for future upgrades….hope it helped you out….
You mean I should not ever upgrade with itunes, and always follow this procedure to upgrade to ios 4.1 from 4.0.2?

Hi all I’m very new to all of this and just installed tinyumbrella 4.1.4, ran it and then got an error msg saying
Something is wrong
You don’t have admin privileges or
You have something running on port 80 or
Your hosts file is not modifiable
Please check anti virus software or shut down skype etc as these block port 80.
I have checked and looks like port 80 is free what else could this be help needed

Yes imo this is not working , as Hikmat said what do we have to lose , well we have alot of things to lose specially time , when u by a phone u can say the perioud that u will keep it is like 1 – 2 years maximum so 1 month waiting is like really long time for waiting . beside i dont thing the team is spending that much time on changing the Fonts of the program or stuff like this , obviously its a coding problem .
i dont want to sound harsh but i still support Jailbreak and Dev team and i respect their work but a little bit of info on ETA wont hurt anyone coz if this is taking ages we should seriously change our mind about iphone and getting it .
Btw i remember reading in this site or another that Greenpois0n is a rumor but might be true , do have a confirmation that this is not fake ?

hey gabr, its uncertain if the jb will be for firmware 02.10.04.. i am stuck in the same position.. my advice to you is to return the iphone.. (if its bought from the US) … you rather buy the unlocked version from oversee so that you never have this jb issue..
I agree with that . If you got the chance return it back to Apple. Spend some more bucks on a factory unlocked iphone from Ebay or Amazon . We can JB it when Green Pois0n is released [uncertain]..
if there won’t be a JB/unlock for this firmware i guess Apple then finally won the “war” against hackers… new phones are shipped with this firmware…

From what i have Sussex out, the Chronic(ally ill) dev team seem like a bunch of wannabe13year olds who are in it for donation money. Money is a bad motivator in the tech world. With the original dev team, it’s all about the challenge. Donation money was not even accepted at one stage. These losers don’t have what it takes now that there star (pod2g) has left them. He probably left on moral grounds too. Just sayin’ don’t wait on these chronic retards.

i share your opinion , the Chronic Dev never came out with a real JB … God knows whats goig on with greenpoison or its just another fake. But apple is also playing their part . they said ios 4.2 will be out in november and its their last major release this year. Probably its a smart move to keep the dev team from releasing a JB before the iOS 4.2 release …[the dev team works day and night to find an exploit and Apple comes up with a patch the next morning , and silly iphone 4 users upgrade to new firmware to cry later on ]
i think , if apple would have saved its money on research and development of iphone hardware / software for patching jailbreak exploits and instead made the iphone a little cheap for everyone to afford , it would have made the iphone more popular in the 3rd world like china [where iphone are manufactured , then exported and imported back to be sold on their own soil for a higher price ]

i bought mine in NY and was shipped with 4.0.2. then i upgrade to 4.1, as the new jailbreak **should** work for the 4.1, and not 4.0.2. Ok point taken…

You are missunderstanding … Iphones ships with 4.0.2 have a baseband firmware v 1.0.59 when u upgrade to 4.1 using the official itunes way u will upgrade your baseband as well which is a problem but the phone will be jb anyway but in this case u cant unlock it . but if you upgrade to 4.1 using the tutorial here u will be able to JB and unlock it .
but if you by your iphone NOW then it will ship with 4.1 and propably with new baseband and this is unlockable atm and not sure if DevTeam will handle it in this release .

If you want to upgrade to 4.1, preserve your current baseband 01.59.00 using tiny umbrella. As of the moment, ultrasn0w can unlock up to 01.59.00 baseband. I heard that the dev team is not working yet for the unlock to the newest baseband because they are putting more energy on ios 4.1 jb. Just follow the instructions on how to upgrade to 4.1 while preserving the baseband here http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/ .
If you want to downgrade to 4.0.1, you must have your shshs saved on cydia server or locally using tiny umbrella. Signing of shshs for 4.0.1 was stopped since last month. So if you’re iphone is just new, I’m sorry but most likely the shshs for 4.0.1 is not saved.

ok guys i am very very confused now and i want to understand something about this whole baseband and unlock thingy not the jb.
i live in saudi arabia and i bought my iphone off the lingo stores not from any mobile service provider like you have in u.s AT&T. so does that mean my phone is factory unlocked to put any other sim card to whatever country i go to …and is that ok if i just jailbrak it when the new jailbreak is released without worrying about the unlock thingy ?
My iphone 4 is 4.1 firmware preinstalled on it and base band is 02.10.04
PS the guy in the stores said that these phones came already unlocked from it’s factory to here to works on any sim card.thanks
dude , factory unlocked means u can use with any carrier. Factory unlocked phones dont get the huge subsidy [$199 for 16GB i guess].
If your buying in SArabia , probably its unlocked …. so you need not worry . you donot need to mess around with jailbreak now . just enjoy your phone .. Jailbreak will be coming soon for IOS 4.1 . till thn wait , and have some patience .. look around for other posts and problems in the forum. Get yourself accustomed with the jailbreak thing . i think its the best time , when jb is not around ….. see if you really want a jailbreak

The way I understood it is, you can downgrade if you’ve previously had the software 4.0.1 in this case and you accidently upgraded to something newer. I have not heard anything different that’s why I asked.

Once u jailbreak , just reboot once. U will get loader icon (white in color) , just. Click tht and thn u will get option to install cydia. It won’t come automatically. If u still have prob then follow the JB process again carefully.
i jail broke my 3gs with a 4.1 software but afta installin cydia not all the apps are free anymore and the ones that i do want are not on the searches either? thanks

@ Kenny , you can get the JB for 4.2.1 using redsn0w . Just goto the site homepage , where you can find the tutorial. Just remember its tethered jailbreak … means you need to connect to pc to boot if you switch off your device …

Dear, im always a iphonotic and i keep testing everything on my iphone. i have factory unlocked iphone4 4.1 and tried to install cydia by limern 1. but cydia is not downloading as on half it gets flashed and closed while downloading. after many tries i tried Poison but it says cydia is already installed. so tell me what should i do. how to remove limern1 cydia and try with the loader to install cydia.
