Hey guys,
I have subscribed to your site so i can be updated regularly so I don’t run into any future issues. But I have a question as to how I should go about Jailbreaking my iPhone 4. First off, I have a Mac. I need to know what specific software I should download. And unfortunately (before I stumbled onto you guys) I upgraded my firmware to 4.1.2 I haven’t done anything to my phone since I bought it except upgrade the firmware , no 3rd party stuff or anything. Can you please walk me through the exact steps I need in order to jailbreak my phone. Again, I have a Mac and upgraded to 4.1.2.

All these software , like tinyumbrella, ultraSn0w,RedSn0w,LimeRa1n , etc etc are for restoring , and unlocking , and not for jailbreaking . Iphone dev team has made jailbreak very easy , not even a PC/MAC is required for the process , does everything on the mobile itself …

So even though I’m running on 4.0.2 I can simply just go to the website from my phone’s Safari? I don’t need to downgrade to 4.0.1?
well accoring to dev team , iOS 4.0.2 has not been jailbroken yet . You can give it a try anyway , miracles do happen .

Yea, I read her comment before I even contacted you guys. I just don’t want to attempt it and then brick my phone. What’s the safer route to take?
Safest way is not to attempt JB . However problems occur , and out of thousands of attempts , few tens get minor trouble. You can save your SHSH blobs , and backup . TRy JB . No success , then restore using iTunes . As simple as do. There are no cases of hardware damage in JB iphone 4.
Its only that people panic , and hence it takes them hours or even days to revert back to normal
Everyone has got a solution in this forum , one or the other way . Some come solved for others , some solved themselves , and then laughed at the times when they panicked

Ok. And that’s what I was reading. I need to backup my phone using iTunes, then save my SHSH blobs using tinyumbrella, then restore my iPhone with the 4.0.1 software, BEFORE I can go onto Jailbreakme from mobile Safari, correct?

can i jailbreak using the 4.o software? i never updated to 4.1 or 4.1.2 so i’m still using the original software and just wanted to know if i can jailbreak it with that?
