Question Posted by : Sherif
My iPhone 4 is jailbroken and carrier unlocked on 4.0.1 with baseband 01.59.00 . I want to upgrade to iOS 4.2.1, and I read it’s possible only on my baseband. Is there any risks for losing my carrier unlock when I upgrade ?
Will I be able to pass the activation screen without the official carrier sim card ? [ It is not available to me anymore as I do not live in the country where I got the iPhone ] .
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Answer : Factory unlocked phones can upgrade their firmware to any version without losing the unlock . These phones are unlocked for life , so you need not worry about the unlock , baseband and other things . For Activation without Sim Card try this jailbreak app named SAM or Subscriber Artificial Module , that was released by Iphone Dev Team last day . Please note that you have to jailbreak iphone 4 before trying this jailbreak app.
