HI! this is not actually a problem but a weird thing that happened to me 2 days ago :
I use a gevey sim (the first one, because i think there a new models) on an ATT iPhone 4 with 4.10 baseband on the Mexican carrier Telcel. Well everything was fine for approx. 7 months until suddenly after ending a call 2 days ago, my phone just turned off all of a sudden which was weird because i still had battery left and I hate the whole gevey unlock process (as many of you may also hate) . So, i went to my house and started charging and prepared pro the unlock method but something was wrong because I couldn’t dial 112. The reason why i couldn’t dial was because my phone connected to my carrier BEFORE I could even dial 112, which never happened before, and by that leaving me without options for unlock.
After that I tried many troubleshooting like restoring network settings, taking out the gevey/sim, turn off 3g, etc etc, and after successfully using my gevey sim card for 7 months or so I was sure of the process so I kinda gave up. Well then I remembered that i few weeks ago someone found a method for unlocking with an original att sim card and some weird steps so I decided to try that before buying another gevey sim, but I mistakenly used my Mexican carrier sim card before any other step and to my surprise, my iPhone got signal ! full signal, 3G, mms, FaceTime, tether, etc, everything works ! I don’t really know why but its been 2 days already and it is still unlocked.
My reason for posting this here is because I hope someone can help me figure out why or what happened! its weird for my gevey sim to suddenly stop working and my mexican carrier to the same way : suddenly work.
