Well I did the obvious st00pid thing because I am new to the iphone I tried to restore my 3G baseband 6.11.50 iOS 3.0.1 8gb but after about ten attempts I found myself on the bricked menu page so with an old sim which I cannot identify gave me option of putting in the PUK code , at last the question ,am I just a puk number away from a full restore?
Please I would like feedback on this guys . Best wishes Norman

Try restoring the latest verion firmware through iTunes which will be 4.2.1
I will suggest that if your iphone is jailbreaked, update it to the version 4.1, then flash the baseband to 06.15.00 in order to unlock it, then restore to 4.2.1 using custome ipsw firmware.
Hope this will work for you, i tried and everything went smooth.
I was trying to put the Iphone 4 in DFU mode but it went to recovery mode instead and now it’s just switched off. I tried TinyUmbrella but the exit recovery part is greyed out and I can’t click it. The only option in Itunes is restore to factory settings but I was trying to avoid that. Help?
Thanks.
