Hi guys. I jailbreaked yesterday my iPad 2 with no problems. After that i tried to do exactly the same with my iPhone 4S using the How to Jailbreak iPhone 4S tutorial . Everything seems ok but when i launch the absinth icon on the springboard appears the green logo with the words “absinthe is now setting things up, please stand by” and nothing else happens. I also tried turning on vpn. It is supposed to reboot but nothing happened. I am using only 3G connection. It worked with my iPad 2. Could that be the issue ?
Help here please .

Same problem here. WiFi was off (using 3g) when I launched Absinthe and it just hangs with the “ABSINTHE is now setting things up …” message. I have enabled WiFi, and have rebooted, but the same thing happens. Any suggestions please?

Retried on a windows pc and all ok
Backup iPhone. Restore fresh. First jailbreak and then restore backup. This is the best way. I had the same problem and the above method worked.
Just to confirm – this does work. Obviously it’s irritating to have to restore your settings plus Apps and music etc, but I have does this now with two iPhone 4s’s and once you have gone to Settings/General/Reset and Erase all content and Settings – it works quickly and without a problem. It took me about 45 minutes to put all my stuff back again once I was jailbroken.
One other tip. Once you have successfully completed the Jailbreak, you can ‘Reset Network Settings’ to get rid of the jailbreak VPN, which is no longer required. This may be useful if, like me, you use a regular VPN. Has anyone discovered how to lose the Absinthe icon post JB?
If it says “absinthe.exe has stopped working” You need to open both packages data and absinthe.exe
My 64GB 4S was also stuck at the absinthe app and never rebooted.
So I disabled the autolock and passcode lock in settings and restarted the whole process.
It worked!!!
Yes, you need to backup first and restore ur iPad2 to factory setting and use Absinth to JB. It works!! I got stucked on Absinthe running just 1/10 on Window before I restore to factory setting and try at least 5 times. Once JB, just go back to iTune and restore. It’s a pain but it works.
so does this jailbreak method on;y work on a windows pc and by doing a fresh restore?
This might help some people.
Absinth creates rather large temp files (a couple of Gigs) on the medium you run it from. I ran it from a flash disk that was almost full and this caused Absinth to stop responding when the flash disk ran out of space.
I then copied Absinth to the desktop and ran it from there. The temp files were then created in the windows directory and so it worked perfectly!

2 months ago, i jailbreaked my iphone, but today something went wrong, so i turned it off and on again, but it won’t turn on…
And it won’t connect to itunes.
Can somebody please help me???
