Subject: iPhone 4 Stuck at apple logo after untethered Redsnow jailbreak 5.0.1

Iphone Version : 4

Question Posted by : Joey

From : Netherlandsapple logo iphone 4

Damn! I should not have done a jailbreak, cause I don’t know enough about it. Now I am in trouble.

I did an untethered jailbreak at my iPhone 4 with redsnow (don’t exactly know anymore which version). After a successful jailbreak and installing some cydia tweaks, I put off my phone at night. And in the morning it only shows the white apple logo when it tries to start-up and it keeps stuck on that.
I tried to reboot with redsnow but then it gets stuck at the pineapple logo.

Also when I try to restore with iTunes (alt key + selecting iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A402_Restore.ipsw) it gives me the error ‘this device isn’t eligible for the requested build‘. I also tried to change the gs.apple.com line in terminal with adding a ‘#’ in front. But it still doesn’t work! :( This is how it looks like when I am opening it now :

##
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost
fe80::1%lo0 localhost
gs.apple.com

I am stuck on this now for 3 days and don’t know how to get out! Please help me. Thanks !

Hey guys, just wanted to share a post that I found that helped me fix my infinite Apple boot logo screen.

Step 1) Plug in your iDevice into your computer using the USB cable.

Step 2) Press and hold the sleep/wake button and the home button simultaneously. Continue holding until the screen turns black and keep holding until the Apple logo reappears.

Step 3) If this does not work and the iDevice is still frozen on the Apple boot screen, follow the instructions here on how to put your iDevice into DFU mode and then from there, and restore your iDevice.

    Hope this helps someone!

      • me too! says:

i tried as well and then it froze during the last bit of instal and then blame stick at apple screen… they should be held accountable for this

      • Justin says:

Hey! if you just get stuck at the screen and cant actually open the phone to the home screen, try restoring it yourself, or take it to apple. apple doesnt charge and they just restore by themselves since they have the macs and the normal software! goodluck.

  6. Ryan says:

Nah I get an error every single time I try that and i’ve tried on different pc’s

no i cant turn it on and an error pops up after i tried to restor on 4.1 ipsw and no bb 5.0.1
and i dont want to restore it rugularly because it will automatically update and i rely on the gevy sim.. i need help

  11. IOS User says:

I have updated to 5.0.1 today, and jailbreaked by useing redsnow. After jailbreak I was trying to install some apps, and mistakenly installed wrong version of MyWi(totally forgot some old app doesn’t compatible with ios5). Springboard showing crash info, and I was gonna reboot the phone, then it stuck at white apple logo. I don’t have any shsh back up, is there any chance I can restore to factory or fix it? Or have to wait for new update?

  12. Sandeep Botcha says:

This process was done on iphone 4
I made a custom firmware of iOS 5.0.1 as I am preserving my baseband 1.59 and i need hactivation ,using snowbreeze. After jailbraking with redsnow I had the same issue of white apple logo on reboot intermittently.this process worked for me to get back to home screen

1 ) hold home button and sleep/wake button together till the screen goes off ! Leave/release both the buttons quickly as the screen goes of.

    2)wait for 30 sec…

    3) switch on the phone on using the sleep/wake button.

Wait till the phone boots(don’t press any buttons while booting)! Oola there u get to ur home screen in less than a minute.

    Let me know your responses.

  13. Nick says:

The best way, in my opinion, is to download redsn0w, open the program, click extras, then just boot. Follow the instructions, and your iOS device should run fine. Hope this helps!

And from now on, don’t restart the iPod with sleep button, or let it run dry, if this happens, do these instructions again. If you must restart, Go to cydia, and download winter board. Now, if you need to restart, run application, turn summer board mode off then back on, and click respring in the top right corner. This will do the trick:)
    Hope this helps!

It didn’t work! I tried restoring, just booting tethered, getting out of Recovery Mode, nothing happened, still at the Apple Logo. I seriously need help!!!!!

  14. Bruno says:

Hey, i had the SAME issue, even some of the posts here are mine.
After much trouble i decided to open the iphone, for my surprise the battery conector was a little loose, so i put it back and the iphone restarted, i tried restoring again and…
Voila, the restore was sucessful with a IPSW from redsn0w but the baseband was alreadly updated to 04.11.08 so for the moment i have a deluxe Ipod touch.
Hope a new version of ultrasnow comes out or a new Gevey SIM.

  15. EJ says:

I have the same problem. I’ve restored/re-jailbroke a couple of times. I’ve even rebooted the phone after each cydia app was installed. It wasn’t until a few days later that I rebooted and the phone got stuck at the apple boot logo.

So I believe it’s something that’s being carried over in the restore that was captured from a previous jailbreak. Something in the plist, etc that’s catching the phone during reboot and freezing it at the logo. IDK….

    • Shawn says:

I successfully restored and rejailbroke my iPhone. The reason why I got stuck in the apple logo is because I downloaded packages from the source http:// cydia. iphonetweak.fr/ and it was harmful to my phone. I just deleted the source.

      • EJ says:

Thanks for the info. I don’t recall ever adding that source, but the last couple of times, I’ve only had the standard repos that came with the initial jail break.

  16. JimmyR says:

Sandeep thank you so much you dont know how muched you just hepled me!! I LOVE YOU!! Like no lie I almost cried cause how expensive the phone is. Thank you so much!!

  17. fdas says:

try this method if found and it worked for me

    1. hard reset ( hold the power and home button at the same time until it reboots itself)

*if that doesn’t work try this method

    2. re-jailbreak using redsnow and importantly “when redsnow asks you what you want to install, uncheck cydia” because you have already installed it in the first place. remember don’t re-install cydia just jailbreak, that’s very important

*if that still doesn’t work this method, should work if apple is still signing your firmware

    3. download your ipsw and on itunes use shift+click on update select your ipsw update your device, after updating rejailbreak and install cydia

I did the third step and it worked and I didn’t loose my apps/files. I found the first two methods on youtube but it didn’t help me, but it worked for some and it might work for you. The down point on the third method is you will loose all your previous cydia downloads, just re-install them and you wont need to redo the settings, and I also re-entered my cydia repo’s

    **note I was on 5.0.1 and re-updated to 5.0.1

    • EJ says:

      Louise,

A restore is an almost full proof way of getting your phone back. I don’t want that option as it’s a pain to have to set everything up again, re-jailbreak and reload all my jail broken apps, but the process is pretty much always successful.

      1. Make sure you are putting your phone in DFU mode, not just sleep mode. It’s more of a pain when we’re in this apple logo stuck mode because the phone wants to reboot itself once power is applied, but it’s still pretty easy.

      2. You’ll have to attach to iTunes once you’re in DFU. iTunes will then see you’re in DFU and tell you that you have to restore the firmware. It’s all pretty much automated from there.

      3. Once you’re restored your phone’s firmware, you’ll need to perform a restore from backup to get your contacts, music, etc. If you’re using iCloud, you’re pictures will be restored too.

With iCloud, you can restore from the online back up using the phone, though iTunes will have to finish it out to transfer music, etc back to the phone.

Just swipe to unlock, set a code (if you wish), say yes/no to using location services, then enter your wireless key, then the next menu will be restore from iCloud.

If you’re not using iCloud, then you’ll have to use whatever your latest back up is on the computer. Hopefully, you made one before jail breaking.

After everything is back to stock, you can try the jail break again. It’s almost impossible to “brick” an iPhone.

  19. Louise P says:

hey thanks!! im still stuck i see that it must be just in sleep mode because the itunes logo is on my screen but i cant get the screen to go blank despite doing the DFU process several times!!

  20. Mirz says:

I had the same issue with the apple symbol,I tried all methods to reboot with redsnow, then I some how managed to get it into recovery mode where itunes was recognising it.

Then instead of shift clicking the restore and picking my own IPSW i just clicked the restore and it some how managed to fix itself.

    hope that helps

  21. Michael says:

Hold your sleep/wake button and home button while having your iDevice connected to your computer and it will go into DFU mode, if the screen logo comes back up let go and wait. If it still doesn’t work after a couple tries, you will need to restore it/

  22. John says:

Put it in DFU mode while tethered and it should put you in recovery mode and from there use itunes to restore the device.

  23. Couts37 says:

I’m on 5.1 with my iPhone 4 and I used the tetherd jailbreak, it was working fine then asked me to respring due to an app I had gotten. I did that and have been stuck on the apple logo ever since. I tried just boot now and it hangs at the pineapple logo then goes to the apple logo. I can do the restore option but it gets me the 3194 error. Please help
