Hi, I’ll explain my problem. My cousin from California gave me her iphone 4 because she is buying the iPhone 4S . I did not bring the AT&T sim card because i was going to use my own sim card in Canada.
Although, I was able to hacktivate it initially because it was a 4.2.1 baseband 3.10.1. (used redsn0w and corresponding firmware ) .
To unlock it I bought a gevey ultra sim card and phone was working well apart from facetime and mms. I played with disk aid (which I should never had I think) and change the carrier to mine. Still facetime and mms was not working.
I decided to erase all and start all over :S without putting back original carrier in disk aid.
The only way i could do anything after that was to restore and UPDATE itune. wich i did… then it was back to the first day when i came back to Canada and realized i needed an AT&T sim card to bypass it.(“no sim card installed”) … I tried to hacktivate it again but this time with the tethered version of 4.3.5 because of the unwanted upgrade…
But this time the hacktivation with no sim card does freeze at the end of it :S
So I tried all redsn0w and firmware thinking that maybe by changing the carrier (AT&T GSM and now virgin CDMA) I F###K things up ?
Really I don’t know what to do at this point ? Any idea ? Is it because the tethered version 4.3.5 with gsm does not work now that I changed carrier? because I should have a firmware 4.3.5 CDMA that does not exist ?
