Hello . I thought without activating you cant get to home screen, how am I supposed to follow hacktivation guide then ? Does i4 grant access to home screen even without activation and/or original supported SIM card?
My i4 hasnt arrived yet, the guy said he JB/unlocked it, but in case he didnt, I wanna know what to do, not panic.
I wont have the original supported SIM card, obviously

Or is the “phonebook SIM card” a special sim and ONLY with that one will the guide work, not a regular SIM card?

With your AT&T SIM in the phone, jailbreak with jailbreakme.com.
Then with Wifi connected, upgrade Cydia.
Unlock with Ultrasn0w from Cydia.
Then in Cydia go to Manage-Sources, click on Edit, then Add. Add http://cydia.pushfix.info, then click on done.
Later go to this source & run the hacktivation patch.
Reboot & insert your Sim card.
iF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL SIM CARD USE ONE FROM RADIOSHACK

Thanks for the info. I got my iphone, it was JB/unlocked as said. But now that you mentioned, I’d like to buy me a SIM card from radioshack, just in case.
Went there, searched for SIM/SIM card/card(500results xD)/phonebook/etc and didnt find anything related to what I need. Mind giving a hand with a keyword or better a link, please?
While Im at it, how do I set up a custom APN? :S

Another weird thing for me is that when i go to settings->general->about i have
Network : my carrier
etc etc
Carrier : AT&T 7.0
is this normal? :S
i tried to jailbreak my 3g iphone after been in safemode and now i can’t use it anymore it’s saying sim is not supported. I had version 4.0 firmware on it ( 8A293) Pease help…
