Subject: Gevey Ultra FuriousMod Not Working
Iphone Version : 4
Question Posted by : Meike

Hi, I unlocked 2 days ago my iphone 4 with the gevey ultra. It took a while but it worked. I hade the baseband 03.10.01 and the iphone 4.2.1. Yesterday my springboard crashed after trying to install sth in cydia. So I updated my Iphone. I installed IPSW 4.3.3 and rc16. Now my iphone has baseband 04.10.10 and the version 4.3.3. After upgrading it I wanted to unlock my iphone again with the gevey ultra. But when I install the FuriousMod Repo always get error, one is that it has a bad URL. But anyway I tried to do the unlock. But i don’t get the gevey accept page.
I get the one signal bar but then its going to No Service and it’s not changing anymore. What can i do? Does it have to do with the jailbreak, cuz before I didn’t have that problem? I appreciate your help a lot.

First things first !
Latest version of systems, patches, apps, mods, etc, are always meant to be better than their older versions, but Apple insists with a Blocked Business System (which is not approved by the U.S. government, this is why Jailbreak is totally legal).
Said that…
You will prefer much better the iOS 5.0.1 for several reasons like some better and new features: e.g. MMS, FaceTime, DropDownWindow (or notification Center) like Droids, etc; BUT you don’t want to upgrade before you save your .shsh Blobs and make a custom .ipsw to preserve your current baseband (for who doesn’t use “Apple’s carriers”).
How :
This is a Forum about The FuriousMod for who uses Gevey SIM cards, which I recommend the ULTRA version from the original seller only. Below you can find the steps you’ll need to follow, to safely upgrade your iOS to 5.0.1 and be able to keep using what carrier you want on your device, using FuriousMod and the ULTRA Gevey SIM Card. You can find the tutorials for each step here at www.iphone4jailbreak.org
1- Save your .shsh files with tinyumbrella-5.10.05;
2- Make a custom .ipsw file with redsn0w_win_0.9.10b3
3- Restore the iPhone system with iTunes 10.5 using the custom .ipsw you made before.
These steps allow you to guarantee that you can either downgrade back to your current iOS version or upgrade your iOS preserving the current baseband. Which here is all about using the FuriousMod with the Gevey Card. It’s all you need.
After these 3 steps you can finally jailbreak your device, install FuriousMod and insert what SIM card you want with the Gevey.
PS : this post was published on January 11, 2012. Fifteen days after the iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak was released. Keep in mind that if you read this after Apple has launched an upgrade for the iDevices this post might be no longer helpful.
