Subject: Failed iOS 5 Upgrade – Upgrade to iOS 5 Firmware
Iphone Version : 4

I have an ATT locked iPhone 4 that I have been using in Bahrain with minimal issues with the help of a Gevey SIM. It was running 4.3.3 and I don’t know what modem firmware it was running. When I first tried to unlock it a year ago I concluded that there was no way to do a software unlock so I settled on using the Gevey SIM to make my iPhone work.
I tried to upgrade to ios 5 assuming that since it wasn’t a software unlock the Gevey would still work. My first thinking that there was a problem was when it successfully upgraded to ios 5 but I could not activate due to an incorrect SIM. Then I slipped in my old ATT sim and the activation completed – but now I have no service, and I keep trying the Gevey unlock without success.
I have now learned that the Gevey SIM doesn’t unlock baseband 04.12.01 – which is what it is currently running . Now what ? Did I brick my phone? Can I restore to factory settings, or will that make me lose all my content ? I did do a sync before starting the update so I should have a backup saved on my desktop.
Any ideas .
Answer :
Here is what you do to Fix Failed Jailbreak Update . Since Gevey Sim does not support unlock on your baseband you have to use R Sim 4 unlock for your iPhone 4 . AT&T recently started officially unlock all iPhone 4′s. You can also read the AT&T iPhone 4 Official Unlock post for details .
