Hello there,
Im living in Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) and im using Jailbroken Iphone 4 (iOS 4.0.1). After jailbreaking my phone (thanks for this website), it workings just fine. My problem is; when i receive phone calls, the caller ID appears without international code, ex. 0750 444 44 44, but when i get sms, it comes with the international code, ex. +964 750 444 44 44.
I have saved my whole contacts with the international codes, thats why, when i receive sms, the senders name appears, but when i get calls, only the number appears even though the caller’s number is saved in my contacts.
I know the numbers of my contacts should match the way i get calls in order their names appear, but the problem is that i get sms with international code, and the phone calls without int. code, thats why even if i edit the contacts numbers and delete the international code, this time sms sender’s name wont appear!
Is there any app that fixes this problem? btw i have used Nokia and Sony Erickson mobiles before but i havent faced such problem!
Your help is highly appreciated.
(btw, no antenna problems here, i have even tried a piece of metal conducting the 2 parts of antenna, and yet no signal damage)

Thats a pretty unusual problem (spooky actually) , number without a name , maybe because of network issues. There is no app for that . You need to set the code , however , the international code must not appear. Confirm this with anyone using the same Carrier like u in your region (ofcorz with an iphone 4) .
Thanks for posting your issue any way. This is firt ever iphone 4 issue posted from someone in Iraq …. I hope you come up with a solution soon … i’ll lookout for similar problems iphone users maybe facing …

Well, i have searched online for this issue, and i know other iphone users have phased such a problem, some one some where had even posted a solution but i think it wasnt working with iphone 4.
Im still waiting for your replays.
PS/ However Kurdistan is a part of Iraq (involuntarily), but yeah, im living in Kurdistan, not Iraq
if i were u i w’d say i live in iraq, nothing to be shame about it, (no wonder y we can’t stabilize the country)i wish u to keep your mind open and love baghdad just like baghdad loves u, remember how big you are but u still a slice of our pizza.

I know this wouldn’t be a “quick” fix. If you can’t find a quick solution an option would be to go into your contacts and add another mobile number to each contact without the international codes. (Copy and paste into the second mobile field then delete the international codes). Like I said not a quick fix but would work.

here in Kurdistan the operater [Korek Tel and Asia Cell]
are not good in fact they are junk the systems they are using
are not advanced its like 12 years old and not just with iPhone
you will have problems with other phones too,

@ Muhammad , thanks for your reply . Remember that leaving email addresses directly in comments body can cause your email to be picked up by spammers . Then starts the ordeal of spam mails .. Always leave you email in the email box , its perfectly safe … I have edited your comment and made the required changed .

Muhammada, is it me or there is no any “answer” in ur replay?! bro i know the problem is related 2 the operator, but yet the operators being “junk”/good/bad has nothing 2 do with this issue, im sure its as simple as a wink 4 them 2 solve this problem, but its hard 2 “reach” them… u know wut i mean.

i have the same issue here, in dubai….
i have iphone 4, jailbroken and unlocked….if you have CYDIA, download ROCK application , then search for CALLERID FIX..
it fixed mine!

This could be solved using the “CallerID and Format Fix” from iSpazio.
1. You open Cydia and add the repository:
http : // ispaziorepository.com
2. You look for CallerID and Format Fix in that Repo and install it.

this does not work on iPhone 4′s running 4.1….. any other ideas? I remember some time ago you were able to ssh into the phone and change a file ….. does any one know if this still works?

The problem is usually fixed with the CallerID Format Fix from Cydia. Unfortunately the ispazio repository servers seem to be down.
Hopefully they will fix it soon.

worked for me and am running 4.1 in Ghana! Mayeb the country you in also matters…cause it says works in 185 countries?
There is another repository called http://fishbone.ge and it has a package called CallerID Fix for 4.0 (it actually works on 4.1 as well).
It also has an interesting package Iphone Notification, that adds iPhone SMS Delivery report settings in Settings > Messages. When enabled, the SMS delivery reports are displayed on iPhone screen.
I tried fishbone.ge ….it didn’t work for me…and i’m on 4.1

With latest Cydia you dont have to add a repository to find CallerID and FormatFix. Just search for “callerid”wihtout quotes and you can find it. Although it says CallerId and FormatFix for 3.x it works up to 4.3.3. However i would like to know if there is a way to modify number formats without jailbreaking because im using iOS 5 beta 1 and the jailbreak has not yet been made public (although MuscleNerd was able to jailbreak it tethered)
