Hi all,
I recently just picked up my iPhone 4 and everyone is talking about jailbreak. I have been looking at alot of sites, but there is so much information. This is my first iPhone and I was just wondering if someone could fill me in as to what benefits downloading jailbreak will give me. As well, what are the Negatives? I cannot afford to replace this phone if something major happens, and I really am an amateur at this to go in and do some of the fixes that others are suggesting. This all sounds interesting to me, but I want to have all of the facts before jumping in.

apart these , there are other numerous apps that u can run , that increases even more possibilities of its usage as a mobile device ,just endless apps , that apple wouldnt allow .
These apps are the primary reason people move to jailbreaking and installing Cydia …
Disadvantages , well there they are . Something goes wrong , you are in a problem , if you cant follow the restore processs. So i must say , before you do anything try how to restore . do that for yourself , once twice . see how that thing works …. then proceed to jailbreak. Then you’ll know what to do if something goes wrong .
If still facing a trouble , just dont panic , post your trouble in the forum. I wont say we are efficient and quick to respond like the Apple Customer Support , but we will try . We are a group of active jailbreakers who run and contribute in this site ….

Thanks for your proactive responses. I am a new iPhone 4 user looking to jailbreak. Can you possible give a list of must have apps for a jailbroken iPhone 4?
This form has it’s perks above Apple support as well! A reader took his phone to apple support because it would not boot, and all they did was replace the device. Needless to say they didn’t take any effort to troubleshoot to save his data, and he lost it all. Just remember to always have a good backup, and we enjoy this stuff so much that we will always be glad to lend a hand. I am sure each one of us here has bricked, crashed, boot-looped and goofed up a device or two and always come out ok. Ask us anything if your not sure.
PS, it happened a second time to him because he installed a program clearly not designed for his device. We were able to it back up and running in safe mode to be able to remove the issue without needing Apple at all! ^_^ Best of luck and enjoy!
after jailbreak my iphone4 would not open. its show black screen with itune logo … can u tell me how can i run in safe mode to remove what is in side and how i restore it again …. i gave 3 iphone s but all have same problem after jailbreak when i try to restore orignal software
Jailbreaking your device is the best thing u could do to it! Just had to say that first. Well customizing is what it Is all about simple and plain. And if u want to find out what apps to use YouTube best cydia apps. Or just YouTube any question u have bout the phone really. That site helped me out alot. Ok down side is your phone will crash but the device will promte u to restart the device. Even gives u a button to press to do so. But yeah as the dude stated earlier u just have to restore your phone back to the factory settings and all is undone. No harm no foul! Plus u can take it back to apple stone and. Have them fix or replace it. Just don’t go telling on yourself. Last but not least ALWAYS SYNC YOUR PHONE!!! BEFORE U JAILBREAK!! And just sync just cause as often as u can.
Hey guys thnx for sharing some useful info, i was wondering if i can use my iPhone to tether with my satellite receiver which works with internet.
Basically it accepts the ethernet connection but My router is gone for repairing so i need to get my satellite receiver working.

I just jailbroke my iphone4 4.2 ect.. As long as you do what you need to first i dont see a problem with switching back. Make sure you go to tinyumbrella and save your shsh blog its soooo easy to do. then back up for phone to itunes like you normally do. but dont upgrade it.
The jailbreak itself it easy and updating / backup on itunes will take longer.
I have to say jailbreaking the phone was the best thing i could of done. I really is a different phone now. my girlfriend loved it too so i did her phone aswell this weekend.
i dont think it upgrades your baseband. that would affect a jailbreak if it did IMO. it will be the same before JB and after.
Just do it. and then look for sources to add to cydia. You will not be disappointed. as far as negatives of JB i guess there is a chance of bricking it. BUT what i have found it that your phone will go into safe made of you add something that doesnt work. and all you have to do is go and delete whatever you just added and your phone goes back to normal. In past i think there wasnt this “safe mode” to help you out.
Hi, I have a JB iphone 4. It was done using Greepoison RC6. My friend has also a successfully JB iphone 4 also with GP RC6.
But so far I have tried on a iphone 3GS and also Ipad 1 3G and unable to get it to work. I have gotten the device into DFU mode successfully and click on the JailBreak button. After some loading time, the progress bar will fill up and the message changed to “Quit to Retry”. Any clues?
Its the best thing To do my never sync your iphone you might lose data. i wasjust downloading some jailbreak software on the iphone 4 today. once i downloaded a free 5 icon dock and pressed restart springboard, it got stuck on the loading symbol… what do i do because its not responding to anything
throw it against a wall, preferably brick. then step on it 4 times (note: stepping on iphone more than 4 times may damage the phone). take iphone back to Apple store for repair.

When you conect to my PC, itunes does not see. When you turn off and you want to get into DFU mode, do not enter into DFU and only the battery is charging.
I do not know what the problem is, if my iphone4 have some protection and do not appear in itunes or from the USB cable.
I almost forgot, I tried with redsn0w jailbreak with, but the message is the same: the device does not exist.
My itunes is Version 10.5.2.11
I would like someone to help me solve my problem so I can sinhroziram my iphone with itunes.

Yes, but my problem is that my itunes does not see my iPhone. In device menager (windows 7) appears only mass storage and has nowhere iPhone device, and theefoe can not sync.
The benefit of jailbreak is that all restrictions imposed by Apple are removed you can install all apps and also unlock your device to use with other operators

altering the software on your iPhone voidsd the warranty , but a simple restore is enough to bring it back to stock stage and reclaim your warranty .. problem solves …

It won’t void your warranty as long as you restore. They cannot tell if you have jailbroken..the device. My last device, I jail broke several times and restored at least 20 times for different reasons cuz i like to play with it. I wanted to make sure if i run into any issues i can handle it. i have figured out several little secrets…for instance…stick to just two or three repos at most. also do not download anything that changes or alters the UI for example…rotation inhibitor and landxape mode tweaks…good luck…
here we go – 1st challenge(?)…
i’ve downloaded abscinthe and extracted it to the desktop; when i clicked it – it keeps on saying Run As an Administrator; tried right clicking and running it as an administrator doesnt work, keeps on saying the same error message. I am the administrator of this PC though…corrupted download perhaps? Tried re-downloading – same issue….

Hi. I have a Verizon iPhone 4, which is already jailbroken, but I am problems with my iPhone recently (the home button sometimes doesn’t work). My iPhone is still under Apple’s warranty. So, my question is, if I restore my Verizon iPhone, will I lose the jailbreak, so that way Apple can help me with this home button problem? After I restore it, they will be able to see that it was once jailbroken?

i have a 4s. I have had three iphone versions and am nervous about jail breaking. First I back up often. so I understand that I can always go back to original version looking as not jail broken if I have problems as it is still under warranty by doing a factory reset correct? Once I jail break can I still use iTunes to back up my schedules and address book ect. as I have always done? Finally will all the regular things work as normal like SIRI as on an unbroken iPhone?

yueah, Its completely true. You have two otipons: I- would be paying somebody else to do it for you and the second option would be buying the unlocking code from Ebay which costs just $ 7.00 or 8.00 bucks.Althought if you get one that’s already unlocked/jailbroken will much better becuase you won’t have to get worried about unlocking it.I am not sure but i THINK YOU might find some help ( videos) on youtube.comGood luck!!
