  1. IOS User says:

download and extract both the file absinthe.exe and data folder on your desktop and then run the application to jailbreak iphone 4s

  2. Amanda says:

I had the same exact problem.

    Try these steps:

Make sure to back up your iPhone.

    Press restore.

It will ask you if you’d like to restore your iPhone from a backup. You want to “Set up as new iPhone.”

    Jailbreak using Absinthe.

Once the jailbreak is finished, restore from your backup.

first of all people should not post unless they are certain of things they are about to say. I had the same problem on my MAC OS X. Not on windows.
Second you need Mac OS X Snow Leopard or later (10.6) in order to run the jail break.

  5. Nick B says:

What exactly do you mean extract both files? I am using a macbook pro and get same error. After Absinthe downloads what do I do? Tried moving file onto desktop and opening…no luck. More detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance

  6. Ipado says:

Make sure you are running Snow Leopard 10.6 or later. Then drag ALL the files from the zipped folder to your desktop and try again.

  7. Nick D says:

I am having the same issue. I am running Lion. Ive tried extracting both files to the desktop and opening them from there and no dice. The app quits everytime i plug in my phone. Are their permisions on my computer that need to be tunred off? Is the file corrupt? Ive also tried opening the app via terminal and the same thing happens. Little advise would help. resoring the phone did not help either. just wasted my time.

  8. Chris says:

So basically anyone with OSX earlier than 10.6 can pi$$ off? Makes sense

  9. none says:

make sure you have itunes (and quicktime) up to date and 10.6+
