Windows Phone 8 is a relative newcomer to the world of mobile platforms and finding good apps for it is sometimes like looking for a needle in a haystack. Even some of the more popular apps are either conspicuous by their absence or hopelessly outdated. However, today we see the return of one of the more popular apps to the Windows Phone 8 Store.
WhatsApp, the popular cross-platform messenger app has been updated for Windows Phone 8 and re-released. For those who are connected via W-Fi, 3G or 4G, the app provides a free messaging service and is available on the iPhone, Nokia, Blackberry, Android or Windows operating system. Messages can be sent, free of charge, between any of these, using your existing internet data plan. You can also create groups and send audio and video media messages as well as images with no limits.
The updated version does not look much different from the old one and the features are pretty much the same as well. However, it is nice to see the app back in store and we can only hope that this is just the beginning. Windows Blog report that, since the launch of Windows Phone 8 app submissions are up by around 40% with many more in the pipeline. Head over to the Windows Phone 8 store to get your free download of WhatsApp.
