iPhone Dev Team has released Redsnow 0.9.9b5 to jailbreak iOS 5 firmware . This version of redsnow comes with new feature to upgrade to iOS 5 and preserve baseband by creating custom firmware . This method is useful for those who need to have original 04.10.01 baseband to keep their unlock on Ultrasn0w and Gevey Sim .

Update : Redsnow 0.9.9 b7 now available .

Download Redsnow 0.9.9b5 :

  • Windows (not available) . Download Redsnow 0.9.9b6 for iOS 5 jailbreak the same way as version 0.9.9b5 now with baseband preservation mode .

    will everything be deleted from my iphone if i upgrade? if yes, how can i back it up and install everything as it has been before the upgrade??

    please help!

      sync with iTunes before you restore , so you can get back everything you lost during the restoration process

        i did. now if i intall ios5, can i just go on itunes and say “restore iphone” and i get everything back as it was before?? sry for this “Noob” question, but the last time i jailbreaked was a year ago. i am still running iOS 4.1 with 02.10.04 baseband. and while i got someones attention, i would also like to add that my phone is unlocked. I know there isnt an official unlock for this baseband, but it just worked some day without me doing anything?! i dont know if that happened to some1 else, but now i can use any simcard without problems. and i didnt unlock it at all.

        @Miju – yes it will work..just do not set up ur phone as new one instead connect to itunes & say restore from backup.. :)

    Hi, I’ve updated my iphone4 today to iOS5, so my baseband now is 04.11.08 … I’ve used Gevey sim to unlock my phone, so question what to do? :)

    Also tried to downgrade to previous 4.3.5, but iTunes give me errors: 4127, after fixing hosts file gives me (20) error …

    just updated to OS 5, everything seems cool until I installed Winterboard. The installation requires a reboot, which I did. Then I used Redsnow to boot tethered, but it got me into safe mode. When I uninstall Winterboard, everything is back to normal. Any suggestion? Thanks

    hi,

    after creating the custom firmeware, and put the iphone in DFU mode, when I restore it from itunes, will I have the error 3194 ? if yes , how to avoid it ?

    I thought i bricked my phone because upgrading kept giving me all types of errors.But on like the 7 th try it upgraded fine to ios 5—-Also i backed up with xbackup and i see the rest of my jailbroke apps are still save in the new itunes—–Keep trying to upgrade if having problems because apple said they were overwelmed and even tho it looked like the download was finished it messed up—So i kept trying and it worked–Yeah boiiiiiiiiiii

    After numerous tries to update to IOS 5 from a 4.3.5 jailbroken Iphone 4 and 3194 error code here’s my fix:

    1. Put phone in recovery mode ( Hold power and home key down until phone powersa off and then an apple will appear. Once apple appears let go of power button and continue to hold home key until it prompts you to connet to itunes)

    2. Once phone is recognized in itunes it should prompt you that the phone is in recovery mode and can only be made operable by restoring. Click restore.

    You should now be in the process of updating.

    Key tips:

    -go ahead and download or update to 10.5 itunes and download IOS 5.0

    -Backup your phone before you start the process

        Tenho iphone4 com Baseband 04.10.01. Fiz exatamente como diz no tutorial e não teve problema algum, Atualizou para o ios5 e permaneceu com o mesmo basebando. O gevey sim continua funcionando!

        O meu está pedindo para ativar com o sim que veio no iPhone 4 mas não estou achando, estou tentando fazer o Jailbreak mas após a tela do logo da Apple ele trava como se estivsse carregando.

        I did exactly how the tutorial says but my iphone 4, after the restore ask me for the sim card that came with my iphone, and I don;t know where I put it, I allready try to jailbreak but after the ajilbreak process finish, when the iPhone reboots apears de apple logo, and just after that it stops on a loading screen, does anyone know about it?

    i’m using gevey sim and i just upgrade to ios5 using snowbreez to preserved my bb (04.10). is ok now to jailbrake using redsnow 9b4? or i will lose my basebands? someone can help?

    Hi there,
    I got Iphone 4 (4.3.2 / 04.10.01) from U.S. locked on At&t. I jailbroke it with ultrasnow and then eventually got gevey ultra and unlocked it. It was working fine in UK with my network. But then I dont know wanted to clear jailbreak so I thought I will restore on 4.3.2 again. But didnt realise I have not stored .shsh. Now on tiny umbrella, I only have 4.3.3 and 4.3.5 shsh saved. There was no other way so i upgraded to ios5, but now it is asking at&t sim to activate. Is there any way i can unlock it now and use it in UK (on 4.3.3 or 4.3.5 bb)??
