Redsnow has ben further updated to version Redsn0w 0.9.10b3 which fixes a problem where re-running Redsn0w over an existing iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak would cause MobileSubstrate-based apps to stop running . To fix this problem you have to re-run Redsnow over your existing iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak and deselect “Install Cydia” option to avoid any package issues .
Note : If Redsnow fails to detect the ipsw version and returns the following error “No identifying data was found” you should select the appropriate iOS 5.0.1 IPSW file by going to “Extras->Select IPSW” before beginning the jailbreak process as explained in details here .

How do you deslect Cydia????? I don’t see that option
After you put your phone in DFU mode and it starts the process, it gives you an option to “Select Cydia”. Just uncheck that box.

HI, i just update my ipad 1 to iOS 5.0.1. But not successful to jailbreak my ipad 1.
After Install cydia and my ipad running those data and pineapple logo are show, after those done, my ipad just show the icon apple, and keep blinking and would not reboot till i make it to DFU mode. Was many times and using the latest redsnow 0-9-10b3.
Is this jailbreak tools not compatible for ipad 1?

Try to restore in itunes to 5.0.1 , and then try to JB again, maybe it will help.
THERE WAS NO ERROR MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN AFTER JAILBREAK, ONLY THE ‘APPLE LOGO’ KEEP BLINKING OR KEEP RESTART. WONT BOOT.

running as admin didnt work.
so i restored to factory default (itunes) with iOS 5.0.1
then run the jailbreak again (it works)
then restore all data from backup
then sync back all the apps from itunes
apps data and iphones settings including contacts were restored
….but it was a very long and painful process.
i tried to update my jailbroken iphone 4 5.0.1 with the new updated redsnow 0.9.10b3 so the cydia issue would be resolved but it seems to continuously get stuck the matrix loading looking screen. i have checked the windows task manager part as listed and even made sure i added the 5.0.1 firmware in the extras part but the loading screen continues to stop and say something about it not working…..any advice and/suggestions?????? thanks guy/gals this site is awesome by the way!!!!

Yes. But keep in mind to use custom firmware if you want to preserve baseband upgrade to not unlockable version.

Use the most up-to date one. I JB-ed my iPhone 4 and also iPad 1 with no problems …. Just a small trouble with iBooks – fixed by iBooks Fix 2 from repo.insanelyi.com.

I can’t jailbreak my iPhone 4 as i appear to have a wrong ipsw file. I updated to iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) wirelessly so don’t have the appropriate files I need. I have downloaded the ipsw file to match my phone but redsnow doesn’t support it. I don’t know what I am doing wrong? What ipsw file do I need?

I jail break my iPhone 4 using redsnow 0.9.9b7. Now I jailbreak my iPhone using redsnow 0.9.10b3,when it finishes jailbreak it wrote that it is tethered . And now the iPhone sticks on apple logo, although I tried to boot from red snow but it didn’t work. Help pleese
Wondering if anyone else is experiencing battery drain issues after jailbreak? Whike at work I place phone into airplane mode, turn off wifi, close all open apps and keep the phone locked in sleep mode. When I check back after 2 hours the battery has gone down by 15%. Does anyon know of any cydia apps that are battery killers?

Hi all, I’ve jail broken my device. Anyone notice the massive battery drain? Or is it just mine? Left it on standby mode before sleeping, woke up 3 hrs later, dropped 30%?! That’s horrible! Now I have to charge it almost 4-5 times per day..
I also have noticed a way faster then usual drain on my battery.
since my update ISO 5.0.1 using RedsnOw. has anyone else had problems with music app. I cant sync my music with itunes and when i open the app and click on artist it kicks me out. any solutions to this problem?
2 Weeks ago i was able to jailbreak my iPhone 4 5.0.1 using have redsnow mac 0.9.10b3, so far haven’t got any problems….and pretty much don’t care about ibooks…but reality it seems to be working just fine……my question is …should i download redsnow mac 0.9.10b4 and jailbreak it again…? or just leave as it is…. i just want to make sure everything is on point with my phone…..any comments will help… thank you
I was wondering the same thing, i am having trouble with boot logos. all require ios 4.2.1 or 4.3.2 with greenpois0n. Will the 0.9.10b3 or b4 jailbreak fix this problem? Any advice is appreciated
My iphone is original from Sweden, the BB was 5.13.04 and the version was ios4.01 I think. It’s a 3gs 16gb.
I updated to ios 5.01, directly from iTunes.
Now, I have problems with the activation of the iPhone. I thought I had the original sim card from Sweden, but apparently isn’t working.

Hello this is Dr. Lior V. Bar-El and I found a solution to the error on the text portion of the jailbreak for windows. no successful firmware download after 60000 ms error. It’s not the server. What it is, you need to shut of redsnow. Now unplug the iPhone. Now plug the iPhone in while it’s on. Now shut off the iPhone in a normal way. Now start redsnow and follow the directions. While the iPhone is off click next it will tell u to now hold the on button and then do what it says it will work 100 percent. Please spread this word on other forums so all will know how to do it. I just update from 4.3.5 to 5.0.1(with preserving baseband.) and then I jailbroke one of my iphone4 with redsn0w 0.9.10b3, everything working great! Can I use this redsn0w 0.9.10b3 for update my other iPhone 4 from iOS 4.1 to 4.2.1 with preserving baseband for unlock and then jailbreak4.2.1with. Or I need older version of redsnow or…?. I don’t want to upgrade to ios5 at this moment! Please help me with this…. Thanks
