I just updated my iPhone 4 to 4.0.2 and noticed the jb is no longer working. So i want to Downgrade to 4.0.1 and I already downloaded the firmware, but I worried about that it will set my phone back to factory setting and I would lost all of my data. iTune should have all my backup except those contacts which I copied over from my old phone which was no longer existed. Please advise. Thanks!

this might sound utterly st00pid.. since I am new to this jailbreak stuff, just wanted to understand something! when I download the firmware from one of the links provided, specifically- iPhone1,2_4.0.1_8A306_Restore.zip. its a zip folder with lots of dmg & plst files format (all greek to me)

Sai,you need a card reader and your old phone’s memory card. Th driver you have must have a MicroSD slot.
Method 1:

Step 1: Insert your old phone’s Memory card into the card reader’s slot (of course you have to connect the card reader and install it into your computer!)
Step 2: If you have Spotlight, Windows Search or any kind of search applications, Search for ‘Contacts’ (Without Quotes)
and run the contact storing application (Windows Contacts) or any kind of contact-storing app that can be syncronised by iTunes.Search for the Contacts folder in the old phone’s memory stick (Whatever letter it is E,F,G,H,I,G,K or whatever)
Step 3: Import Contacts (Choose the file where your contacts are stored).
After that, you should have all your contacts stored in your computer!
Method 2

This is the hardest wsy to do especially if you have a long list as Santa’s.In your iPhone, Goto Phone > Contacts and copy down all your contacts onto your paper ( Never Recommended if you lose the paper ) If you restore,all of your contacts will be gone,and you will never be able to communicate with your friends.
