A new app switcher has finally arrived on the scene for selected iOS devices. Auxo is a brand new jailbreak tweak that has now arrived on Cydia for download, but only via the BigBoss repository for $1.99.
However, before everybody rushes off to download it, there are a few things you need to know. Firstly, this will only work on the iPhone and iPod Touch , although there is an iPad version in the works for early 2013. Secondly, you must be running iOS 6 , again there is a version for iOS 5 being worked on that could be available very shortly. And finally, the device must be jailbroken. This unfortunately lets out anyone with an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5. At the moment, the app works on the iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod Touch 4th Generation.
Auxo was previewed last week and proved to be mighty popular. The app itself is packed full of toggles that you can customize and a redesigned set of music controls. In settings you can configure the toggles to work as you want them to do and you also get access to a set of toggles that you can use to manage items you use all the time.
Each app within the switched has its own screenshot – to exit an app, simply swipe down the screenshot. You can easily remove apps by swiping them as well. Auxo has redesigned app switching into a beautifully crafted, easy to use piece of software that, once you’ve tried it, you wont want to go back to any other app switcher on the market, free or otherwise.
With Apple’s history of using tweaks to design their own apps it will be interesting to see how long it will be before this one makes an appearance on iOS as a standard feature.
