Delete iTunes Backup to Recover Hard Disk Space

Itunes keeps a complete backup of your iOS device occupying hard drive space . These backups can soon build up and needs cleaning . To delete iTunes backup files and free disk space follow the tutorial below .
Steps to Delete iTunes Backup and Free Hard Disk Memory :
- Launch iTunes on your computer and go to Edit > Preferences (as shown in the image below)

- Now go to Devices tab . This will list all the device backups with history (as shown in the image below)

- Select the old backups and click on Delete Backup button to remove them
- Itunes will empty your hard disk space . The backups once deleted cannot be recovered .

Recover More Space :
After deleting the backup file you can restore a significant amount of memory on your computer . Itunes also saves ipsw firmware files on the computer itself . You can delete these ipsw files to recover more space . To delete the .ipsw file , browse to the following location on your computer .
Mac Users
~username/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
Windows Users
Windows XP: / Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
Windows Vista & Windows 7: /Users/username/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
